Kirby, Kyle and Carlo used to close friends until they fought over Chrissy's affection. It was a slow burning of bridges, and they never became close like they used to before college. Kirby tried to keep Chrissy and Carlo apart while Kyle tried to be close with Chrissy's dad. Carlo on the other hand tried to keep guys from being too close to her.
Chrissy was too naive to even think that the three of them were fighting for her affection. Chrissy treated all three of them as friends, but Carlo was special. She felt a connection with him through his constant teasing every day.
She was in her fourth year already. Kirby and Kyle studied in Manila and they had no contact whatsoever. Carlo was courting someone else but Chrissy didn't believe it because she knows Carlo wouldn't betray her.
