My Chinese Girlfriend

Mr. Hao

Chrissy has been in a roller coaster ride with her relationship with Sandro. Her parents trying to Kai Siao Chinese guys and Sandro interfering with the date. Today Chrissy is going to meet a guy who she calls Mr. Hao since she doesn't know the guy. Chrissy told Sandro about the date and she wants Sandro not to go to the meeting place since the Mr. Hao's parents would be in attendance. She was still a second year college student and she didn't think her parents would resort to introducing guys for her to date instead of being with Sandro.

"Sandro, can you just go to the gym after your class? I don't want you to be there since I'll be rejecting Mr. Hao. Everytime you interfere with my dates, people would listen to our conversations and it's really a big mess." Chrissy called Sandro on the cellphone.

"Are you interested in this guy? Is that you don't want me to be there?" Sandro was angry but his voice was still calm.

"If I was interested in him, we wouldn't be together."  

"I'll be at Ahfat restaurant later whether you like it or not." Sandro raised his voice since he couldn't act like nothing is bothering him.

"I know I can't change your mind." Chrissy hanged up the cellphone.

Chrissy dreaded dinner; she knows it would be chaotic at the restaurant later. Knowing Sandro's personality he'd argue with my parents later. It's just hunch that Chrissy thinks would happen later. It was 6pm now; her parents called her to go to the garage and get the car ready. It was time to leave and she tried to be presentable but not trying too hard since Sandro would make a big deal out of it later.

"Dad, who is the guy I'm meeting later?" Chrissy asked her dad.

"Hao is his last name. I don't know the full details. You'll meet him in a while." her dad replied.

As Chrissy was driving; she received a text from Sandro. She thinks Sandro is already inside the restaurant waiting.

I'm here. Where are you?

She replied and was annoyed that he arrived early. She didn't expect him that he was eager to argue with her parents. She knew from the start that Sandro was possessive but she didn't expect him to be this worst.

I'm on my way there. I'll be there in five minutes.

Chrissy was nervous and she couldn't calm her nerves. She knew that this kai siao would be a disaster the moment she knew Sandro was coming. The restaurant came into view and she's reluctant to go inside the restaurant. Sandro was sitting by the corner and had ordered a soda.

(Kai Siao means to introduce Chinese boys or girls to someone. They checked the background of the girl or boy. It's either the parents, grand parents or relatives who wants to introduce the prospect with having a relationship with the prospect. After having a relationship for a year or two they'd get married. It's the norm for Filipino Chinese people in Philippines.)
