My Chinese Girlfriend

Summer 2008

Chrissy woke up early since she planned for Sandro to meet her parents. Sandro is her boyfriend now. They are in a relationship after courting her for one year. She called him and told him to be ready anytime. She anticipates that her parents would disapprove of their relationship.

"Mom, Sandro is coming over." Chrissy told her mom.

"Your dad won't allow you to have a bf. You're still young." her mom asked.

"I think it's because he isn't Chinese that's why he is so against it." 

"He isn't allowed to come over. "

Chrissy called Sandro over the phone. She expects Sandro to be mad.

"You're not allowed to come over."

"Why? Is it because I'm not Chinese?" his voice 

"Yeah, I think so."

"Let's just stop break up since your parents want you to have a Chinese bf. You can just date your family friends since they are both Chinese."

"I'm not interested in Lance or Kevin. I only consider them to be my friends. You know that because I've told you a lot of times already."

"It's over. I'm hanging up. Don't try to call me or text me."

After their phone conversation, Chrissy was crying in her room. She was heartbroken. She tried to contact Ivan, his best friend. She didn't bother what Ivan might think since she is desperate. 

I am Sandro's girlfriend. You've met me once. Can you please tell Sandro that I love him and don't want to break up with him?

Chrissy stayed up all night since she was in so much distress after their break up. She just browsed Facebook and listened to music on her MP3 player. She listened to Iris by Goo Goo Dolls on repeat. After that she watched Korean drama to take her mind off their breakup. She couldn't believe that it was over because of her parents disapproval.

It was 8am and she texted Sandro that she was sorry. She called his phone but she couldn't reach him. She called her classmates Elijah since he might know be aware what Sandro was up to. Elijah is Blanche's boyfriend and his cousin is Sandro's close friend.

"Hi, it's me Chrissy. I just wanted to know if might know where Sandro is. Do you know where he is?"

"He didn't tell you?"

"We argued last night and he broke up with me."

"He is in Singapore with his family. He is on vacation. He'll be back next week. You can call him next week."

"Thanks, Elijah."

Chrissy was so disappointed with Sandro because he didn't tell her about the vacation. He always updated me where he was going all the time. She didn't think much about it since she knows that Sandro wouldn't cheat.
