CHAPTER 53: A Chance?

As I slowly regained consciousness after fainting, my senses gradually sharpened. The first thing that came to mind was the sensation of dampness, realizing I had been caught in the rain. The cool droplets clinging to my skin reminded me of the unexpected downpour that had led to my unconsciousness, slowly piecing together the moments before everything went black. I don't know who rescued me.

Dahan-dahan akong bumangon at naramdaman ang pananakit ng buong katawan ko. I almost cried in pain when I stood up because I forgot that I sprained my ankle. Napahawak ako sa bed ko because I almost stumble on the floor.

"What are you doing?" When I heard her voice, my heartbeat quickens like a whispered secret, racing with the cadence of her words.

I slowly turn my gaze and right there, my world just stop.

Jessa stood in the doorway, her expression serious yet soft, eyes fixed on mine as if searching for answers in the silence between us. Her presence commanded the room, a gentle intensity that spoke volumes without a single word spoken.

"Umm.. I tried to standd up. I'm thirsty." I manage to answer her.

She simply nod her head and say, ""I'll ask the maid to bring you water and food."

Akmang aalis na ito when I asked her.
"Who helped me?"

Matagal bago ito sumagot. " Si Kuya Dennis. Isa sa mga tauhan ko. Mabuti nalang nakita ka niya."

I felt grateful for his help, yet a twinge of disappointment lingered-it wasn't her who had come to my aid.

"May tanong ka pa ba?"

She changed. Her eyes, once warm and tender, now turned cold and serious, as if the love and care she once showed had vanished into distant memory. Her gaze spoke volumes of a heart once open, now closed off.

I cleared my throat. "Wala na. I'll thank that person who helped me later."

She nodded. "Okay." Then she close the door and left.

My heart felt like needles were pricking it, each jab causing sharp, stinging pain that radiated through my chest with every beat.

I bit my lower lip.

Dumating narin 'yong maid na may dalang pagkain and water pati narin medicine ko.

"Thank you" she smiled and say 'walang anuman po'

"By the way, can you tell to that named Dennis na puntahan ako dito. I will thank him personally for rescuing me." I added.

Her forehead furrowed. "Si Kuya Dennis po?"

"Yes the one who helped me."

She scratch her forehead, contemplating. "Eh hindi naman po si Kuya Dennis ang tumulong sainyo kundi si Boss po."

Surprise swept over me as I realized that the one who had helped me was her all along.

Pero bakit niya sinabing hindi siya? Why she lied to me?

After kong kumain ay sakto namang pagdating nila Thea. They asked me if okay lang ba ako at paano ako napunta sa ganoong sitwasyon so I told them everything.

"Yan tanga ka kasi." I glared at Tiffany pero hindi niya pinansin.

"Infairness naman kay Jessa ha nang mapansin niyang wala ka parin tapos anong oras na then saktong umulan pa, ayon girl inutusan lahat ng tauhan niya na hanapin ka." Kwento nito.

"Ang cool nga niya kasi kahit umuulan nangabayo parin siya para hanapin ka. Ang galing niyang mangabayo well I'm sure alam mo naman 'yon." Jasmine added making me gaped in awe.
