THERE'S A METAPHORICAL bridge that's formed between two people when a friendship blossoms — one end holds platonic love, while the other is either desire or romance. It's a fickle thing, and it makes for a meticulous journey if deciding to cross the bridge. Could it ruin things forever? Or could it lead to something spectacular? It's the unknown that frightens most people and causes them to rethink their actions.

But George and Meredith crossed that bridge and everything's changed. He's no longer living in the house of surgical interns, having moved in with Burke and Cristina temporarily, before Cristina grew frustrated with the presence of the O'Malley in her apartment. So, now, George's living adjustments are unknown to them, and Daphne hasn't spoken to him in weeks.

Daphne misses her friend. She hates how Meredith is being treated, like some sort of pariah who parades around the hospital and shamelessly sleeps with her friends and purposely spoils her friendships, but she misses George. She misses his corny jokes and his awkward demeanour, but, most of all, she misses having someone to be a comfort around. Mistakes happen, but she's not sure they can come back from this.

Her morning at Seattle Grace Hospital is, usually, busy and bustling, and Daphne finds herself stuck with Alex. Unfortunately. But it's not unfortunate for the reason it would have been when she first started her internship. Holding back the feeling that's been brewing in her chest is becoming harder to control, and the resentment for Elliot is overwhelming. She just wishes she had the confidence in her relationship like she does in her career.

But she pushes it down and pretends everything is okay when, in reality, it is not. It's not okay to be in a relationship with a man who has hit her, made her feel small when she is extraordinary. Daphne knows this, she's believed this, but it's chipping away at her every time she surrounds herself with him.
