DAPHNE FINDS IT UNEXPECTED, to say the least, that Derek has been given divorce papers from Addison and he didn't sign them the moment his grip landed on. While sitting in Joe's bars, fervently ignoring the glowers directed towards her from Izzie, she's filled in from Cristina and struggles to comprehend why Derek wouldn't leave Addison in the blink of an eye after her adultery. But it seems there's still some underlying feelings between the two lovers, something Daphne had not anticipated.
She truly thought that Meredith was it for Derek. Perhaps, after all, she was wrong.
While Meredith drowns her sorrows at the bar, her friends watch her with pity shining in their eyes. They toss darts at a dart board and pretend they're not watching Meredith from the corner of their eyes, eyeing her as she downs shot after shot and has no intention of stopping.
"When you tell someone 'I'll meet you later at a bar tonight', how long exactly does that mean you are supposed to wait?" Cristina wonders sharply, grabbing the darts and faces them with a pinched look on her face.
"Forty-five minutes," Daphne deadpans. "Anything more and I'm humiliated."
"Do you really think he's not coming?" George questions.
"It is getting a little hard to watch," Izzie comments, watching Meredith take another sip from her drink — a mouthful of many.
"It was hard to watch an hour ago," Cristina holds a pinched expression. "Now it's just pathetic."
"Cristina!" Daphne hisses, but Meredith's already swivelled around to them, slamming her fist against her the bar's countertop.
