"Heh... no promises" he said. I let out a soft giggle at his response. Of course, Muichiro would want to be strict. He may seem like he's a cold person. But deep down, he cares for those around him. That's one of the reason why I love him. I know Muichiro would want the best and he will teach the best technique to make sure the Slayers' growth in strength and agility. That's how amazing of a guy he is. I'm so lucky to be the one to call him mine.

-Persistence-

Y/N P.O.V

Onii-Chan came to me, saying Giyuu-San refused to be a part of the Hashira training. He found out about it from the letter sent by Oyakata-Sama. He also requested for us to try and persuade him to participate. Which is why Onii-Chan and I are heading towards his Estate.

"Giyuu-San!!" Onii-Chan yelled out, once we're right in front of Giyuu-San's Estate. He keeps calling out for the Water Hashira. But, there's no response. "Giyuu-San! It's Kamado Tanjiro and Kamado Y/N! Giyuu-San!!" He yelled out once again. But still no response from inside the house.

I can sense Giyuu-San's presence though. So he's just not responding and staying silent. Which means he probably didn't want to have guests over. I let out a surprised yelp when Onii-Chan just grabs my hand, pulling me along.

"Onii-Chan! We still haven't received any permission to enter his Estate. This counts as trespassing!" I whisper-yelled at him, scolding him for deciding to just enter the Estate. He didn't listen to me and just pulls me inside. I let out a sigh and huffed in annoyance when he ignores me. Don't get me wrong, I love my older brother and all. But sometimes he just gets on my nerves.

He pops his head inside a room. I hear a soft gasp from inside. I take a peek to see Giyuu-San staring at us with a surprised face.

I let out a nervous laugh at his reaction

I let out a nervous laugh at his reaction. "H-Hi... Giyuu-San" I said, waving my hand nervously. Onii-Chan just pulls me inside as he sits across from Giyuu-San. I sit a little behind Onii-Chan. First, he trespass and now he's invading Giyuu-San's personal space.

I just stays silent as Onii-Chan tries to get Giyuu-San to talk. He also points out that Giyuu-San gave off a scent that he's angry. In which Giyuu-San responded that he's upset that neither of us perfected the Water Breathing technique. I let out a nervous laugh at what he said. He claimed that he wants us to master Water Breathing, so we'd be able to replace him when he retired.

But, I can feel that it's not all because of that. There's another reason why he seems upset. What I didn't know was how to get him to feel comfortable enough to talk to us about his problems. We have to find a way to let him know that he could trust us. That's the only way for him to be open to us.

I let out a sigh as Onii-Chan keeps dragging me while he keeps following Giyuu-San. Even when Giyuu-San is on a patrol duty. I try to leave him alone, because I'm not sure what Giyuu-San is thinking about. But I can't go anywhere because Onii-Chan is holding onto my hand firmly.

I lean my back against the wooden wall. "Giyuu-San?" Onii-Chan said, peeking inside the room as streams came out of it. Which lets me know that it's a bathroom and Giyuu-San is currently taking a shower. I close my eyes as I shake my head, feeling embarrassed with the way my brother is acting.

"Onii-Chan... I'm pretty sure this isn't what Oyakata-Sama meant by being persistent. We should respect his privacy" I said, sighing softly to myself. He drops on his feet after he finished bothering Giyuu-San. He let out a nervous laugh as he rubs his head sheepishly. I just roll my eyes at him.

This goes on for days. I can clearly see the darkening eye-bag underneath Giyuu-San's eyes. I try to warn Onii-Chan about it, but he just ignores me. Which kind of started to irritate me.

As we walk across a wooden bridge, Giyuu-San stops walking. Onii-Chan and I stop as well. I just stare at his back, wondering what he's trying to do. Is he finally had enough and planning to call us off?

Giyuu-San turn his head to look at us. He starts to talk about his past. My chest tighten when he starts to talk about his deceased best-friend. I was shocked when I learn that his friend's name is Sabito. I wonder if it's the same Sabito that came to us during our boulder tests.

I feel tears streams down my cheeks. I didn't realize that Giyuu-San has been suffering so much. I mean, it makes sense. Every single one of us that had chosen the path of becoming a Demon Slayer would also have a hard past. The Hashira's are no different. In the end, we're all just a human.

"Giyuu-San! Are you just going to throw away all of that? Your friend gave you a chance to live by giving up his own. You shouldn't let his death be in vein. You need to live for him too... live for the both of you" I said. He froze at what I said. I watch as he lift his hand, placing it on his cheek as if he just remembered something.

Giyuu-San turn around to face us. "Giyuu-San! Let's have a soba noodle eating contest" Onii-Chan said. I turn my head to look at him in disbelief. Even Giyuu-San seems taken aback by his sudden challenge. Where did that even came from? Seriously, Onii-Chan can come up with the most unexpected challenge. That was just so random.

Well, if he had challenged Giyuu-San on a combat, he'd surely lose the match. There's just no way we could win against a Hashira. So, an eating contest would most likely be the most doable challenge for him. Yeah him... I am not taking a part of that eating challenge. I don't want my stomach to burst. Yeah, no thank you for that. Onii-Chan is the big eater between us anyway. So he'd have to do. Sorry, Onii-Chan.
