Walt valued it
This movie was basically Walt's way of expressing the importance of music.
He wanted to make it so that people who had "walked out on" classical music would remember it and know it still existed.
In Walt's words...
"In our ordinary stuff, music is under action, but on this... we're supposed to be picturing this music-not the music fitting our story."
