Chicken fight

Enid.

"So your telling me.. you guys kissed? AGAIN?!" Yoko shouted. Making our presence known by some students walking past. I hit her shoulder, and she mouthed an apology. "So what does this mean?"

"I don't know, we kissed then we watched the stars then both decided to go back to the tent as it was really late"

Liv scoffed. "You're telling me you didn't even talk about it..not even this morning" Yoko agreed.

"No she's still asleep" I shot them a confused look.

"You idiot. You need to go back now"

I got even more confused. They stared at me for a while, until I finally realised, immediately jolting and saying my goodbyes as I ran back to the tent.

I got back, out of breath since I decided to run the whole way, I see her start to wake up, just in time, I thought.

I sat down on my sleeping bag next to hers, looking at my phone to not seem creepy by staring at her. She slapped her hand over to my side looking for a body, which she found as her hand made contact with my leg. She turned over slowly and a smile crept up onto her face.

"Hi" she said weakly rubbing her eyes with one of her hands. Her other hand still on my leg. "Hey" I put my hand on top of hers.

We stayed like this for a while, just being happy that we were both there, together.

She looked down at our hands but pulled hers away after a while. "Enid, this might be too much to ask, but do you think we could keep whatever this is a secret for now"

I felt myself gulp. "Yes of course.. I mean you still have Tyler and stuff"

"Oh shit Tyler" She said and throwing her hand to her head. "I completely forgot that I had to deal with him" her smile faded.

"You know you could just.. I don't know, break it off with him if you're not happy.. not for me of course I wouldn't force you to do that but like if you don't feel happy may-"

She put her hands on her face and pulled me into a kiss. As she pulled away sighed deeply. "I wish I could, I'd do it, but.. I can't"

"What do you mean you can't?" My eyebrows furrowed.

"He won't let me leave him, believe me I've tried."

I decided to not push Wednesday. She almost looked uncomfortable. She can tell me in her own time, but it didn't change the fact that I was infuriated. I hated him with a passion, and now I have a valid reason to. Random scenarios filled my head, on why and how he's making her stay with him which made me even more angrier.

We were all out by the river yet again, when I say 'we' I mean the usual group, Yoko, Liv, me and Wednesday. None of their partners wanted to join us which was reasonable since we could be quite weird or annoying sometimes, but Wednesday didn't seem to mind, and I thought she'd mind the most.

We had gotten onto a dock. It was my idea to jump off into the river, of course, at first Wednesday seemed hesitant but after I told her that we could do it together she took my hand and dragged me with her. "Ok.. on the count of 3... 2.."

I didn't even finish counting before Wednesday quickly let go of my hand and shoved me into the water, taking me by surprise, then immediately jumping in after me. I finally made it back on top of the water until Yoko and Liv decided to cannonball right next to me and Wednesday making us completely soaked again.

"we should play chicken fight"

Wednesday declared.

Soon after needing to explain the game to Yoko and Liv they finally agreed and made my partner be Wednesday which made them smile a lot.

Wednesday was smaller so I just ended up picking her up randomly and placing her on my shoulders despite how debating that I should be the one on hers. She held onto my head at first for stability as my hands wrapped around her thighs. Liv was on top of Yoko, I smirked at Yoko before counting down.

We started the game and Wednesday and Liv were holding each others shoulders, for a really long time, at times they would just about shove them back but then returned to each others shoulders.

"Surely one of us would've won by now, are they both like I don't know equally strong" Yoko said

"Yeah or they're both equally weak"

I felt Wednesday kick me in my chest with her foot. "Shut up" I opened my mouth widely and scoffed, of course being overdramatic. She looked down at me and smiled. With that I fell backwards, purposely, taking both me and Wednesday down under water.

We rose back up and she shoved me "you bitch"

"Oh really?" I said splashing her.

"Liv come here I'm going against Enid"

She got onto Liv's shoulders who looked happier than ever. I swam over to Yoko who just stared at me suspiciously.

"Are you sure you wanna go against me?"

"Yes now hurry up"

I sighed and looked over at Yoko, who continued to stare at me weirdly, "what's going on between you two" I furrowed my eyebrows. "We had a talk and we're kinda kinda friends, I guess"

She smiled and bent down a bit to allow me to climb onto her shoulders, which I successfully did. Yoko and Liv both counted down after spending forever to work out whether they are counting down or up. After a while Wednesday decided to lunge herself forward to me. Shoving me. I managed to stabilise myself before looking back up to Wednesday who looked really happy.

And when I saw her smile I couldn't do anything to stop her smiling. After our long conversations and how upset she had looked, it felt like I won the lottery to see that smile again. I grabbed onto her shoulder's softly. She shoved me forcefully and I eventually just let myself give weight knocking over both me and Yoko.

"YESSS I DID IT I BEAT HER" Wednesday screamed as she jumped off of Liv's shoulders. Both of them celebrating and screaming with joy. I watched as they hugged and started to bob up and down in the water both splashing each other.

I felt Yoko wrap her arm around my arm, "you let her win didn't you"

"How couldn't I, look how happy she is"
