After a day of stolen looks and awkward conversations. The two decided to go to bed. They had spent all day having these weird encounters, expressing mixed feelings towards each other. Leaving both confused and frustrated. Leaving them both wide awake in the middle of the night, Contemplating whether to wake the other one up or leave them be.They were both extremely exhausted but it came to the point where despite how tired they were, nothing could get them to close their eyes and sleep. No matter how hard they tried. Thinking off a different thing or person didn't help, it only lead back to the certain blonde or the dark haired girl.
A certain encounter would stay in their mind, earlier with Yoko and Liv, whose partners disagreed to come of course, they had a strange interaction. Wednesday was different.
At first they were just talking about normal stuff like how good the marshmallows were, which the blonde disagreed with... which of course concluded into a whole debate. That Wednesday was brought into, of course. They all Jolted their heads at her, "what do you think Addams" Enid had said.
She looked around. Yoko and Liv looking at her hoping she said they were good, but then Enid gave her a weird stern look. At this point her mind spoke for itself.
"They lowkey sucked but I'm not one to judge"
huffs were heard around the campfire from the pair in front. Looking over at Enid who looked very proud of herself.. too proud. She had questioned why Wednesday took her side, was it because the marshmallows genuinely sucked, or was it more than that.
Then again all good things are bound to end eventually.
The couple had fought. Enid became dismissive again, like she was before the journey to where they were. She shut down Wednesday. The raven haired girl never would've cared usually. She spent her whole life doing it to others, but when Enid did it to her, it did not feel so great.
So here they were, lying in their sleeping bags, in silence. After Enid had stormed off into the tent, Wednesday decided to keep quiet and to herself. Both turned away from each other. Of course, from time to time one of them would turn their head to see if the other one was looking or facing their way, but they never caught each other. Both leading to feelings of guilt but also loneliness and questioning their worth to each other.
It took time for Enid to build up the confidence to ask Wednesday if she was awake. She had to count to three. Of course she counted a couple of times since she never actually spat out her words after three. Finally she shook down whatever was holding her back, and just spoke.
"Wednesday.. are you awake?"
"Mhm" the raven haired girl whispered, turning her head slightly.
Enid propped herself up onto her elbow, facing Wednesday. "Can we talk?"
Wednesday did the same. They looked at each other, a small smile crept onto Wednesday's face, but she immediately dropped it when she noticed Enid's worried face.
They both got out of the tent. Deciding to have this awkward conversation somewhere else. Somewhere the breeze could fill the void of warmth in their stomachs. Where it didn't matter how loud they were, where their thoughts became relaxed decreasing the likelihood of heating up and taking anger out on each other.
They reached a spot, beside the river which was surrounded by a small wooden picket fence. Some broken panels were falling off, leaving small holes in the fence. The sky was clear, exposing all the stars and moon, which shone onto them like a spotlight.
Wednesday had been the first to open her mouth, "This is a beautiful place, I mean look at the stars every single one of them. Did you kn-"
She had noticed the blondes stance. How she stood expressionless.
"What's going on Enid?"
"You're really going to act like you don't know... really"
The raven haired girl arched her eyebrow, making it harder for the blonde to stay relaxed. Despite the beautiful setting around them, and despite the fact that she's here with Wednesday.
"The party. I need you to tell me what happened."
The popular girls face dropped. As if her worst fear had came true. The other girl had looked at her, her eyes gleaming with plead.
"Um..okay, if you have to know I'll tell you" she said rubbing her temples. Patting a seat next to her on a bench that looked out into the river. Instead of facing the river, this time she faced Enid.
"I was sat on my phone, um Tyler was really drunk and I didn't want him to influence me into any more drinks.. I wanted to control myself you know? Erm, then I saw you with the same guy I had already told to leave and you were out of your mind.. in the nicest way possible. you were being all weird with him and he wasn't stopping you from doing anything. So of course I wanted you to be careful and not hook up with a random guy at a random party. Because I-"
She had paused for a moment. Loss of words. Enid waited for her to say she cared. Hoping that the silence meant that.
"I didn't want you making the same mistake I did. So I, again, went over to you and pulled you away from him. Then you told me you needed to go somewhere less busy and I took you into the closest room I could find, which was of course a closet. Somehow you said it wasn't as claustrophobic as the room we were in but I didn't ask many questions."
Enid looked at her. Deep in thought, listening to everything the girl is telling her about the night she had forgotten about.
"Then it was silent, at first we didn't say much, but then you started saying all this stuff about how you admired me and that you hated Tyler with me and that you were jealous or something. I can't remember much of what you said because it was a lot but it was something like that. And then you said about how I deserved someone who would treat me better and then you said how you were better than him. And it all happened so fast.. I mean I felt you lean in and it all happened."
Enid was somewhat shocked. She had confessed her great liking towards Wednesday when drunk and she knew since then and hadn't said anything. But on the other hand.. if the roles were reversed how would she bring that up?
It became silent.. yet again. This time, Enid brought up the courage to speak. "Did you... stop me?"
The question led Wednesday into a hole. Mentally, she felt herself falling. The words scattered around her brain. She almost looked confused with herself. But again, she also felt guilt. She stopped Enid from kissing a guy yet she kissed her when she was drunk.
"Why didn't you stop me?" Enid spoke again.
"I- I don't know, I thought I wanted it, of course, when you weren't drunk. And when I was sober it felt weird to want it."
"Now that you think about it, if it never happened would you want it..again"
Wednesday looked up from her hands that were crushing each other. Her tight grip softened slightly.
"I think so...yeah"
