Madeline-

He was aiming for me. I knew it the second the first bullet flew passed my head; it was so close to my ear I thought for a second it did hit me. Our horses were getting nervous, they started stomping there front legs on the grounds.

"Go! Go! Leave now, there aiming for me!" I shouted at my siblings; I lifted my gown taking out my large handgun that I always hid under my outfits. My siblings turned their horses around starting to run back towards the castle. The guards were running towards me, yelling at me to go, but I wasn't listening, I wasn't scared of a little man trying to kill me, I was going to shoot him myself.

I screamed as I felt a bullet pierce through my arm, the bullet getting lodged in my arm, the blood started running down my arm, staining my dress. Everything suddenly felt like it was in slow motion, as I scanned the crowd and saw him. His gun was still pointed at my me, people were running away from him, as the guards tried to push their way towards him, but were struggling, I smirked pointing my gun at his legs, and fired two shots. He screamed, louder than I did, and fell to the floor, one kneecap was shattered, the other bullet in his thigh. My horse started bucking, I grabbed its leash trying to calm it but he bucked harder and threw me off. I screamed as I landed on the cement, where were the fucking guards?

I could hear and feel people rushing over to me, Michael scooped me up into his arms, and suddenly I was very thankful that I didn't let Will come with me on that horse. Everything happened in probably a minute and thirty seconds, but it felt like twenty. Michael rushed us to my parent's carriage, pried open the doors, and placed me on the seat. My father grabbed his handkerchief and tied it around my arms.

"It's okay, we're going back to the castle." He whispered to me, he took off my crown that surprisingly hasn't been thrown off my head yet or broken.

"What the hell happened?" My mother asked, she knelt on the ground next to me, pushing the strands of hair that fell out of my bun away from my face. The bullet wound was starting to take its toll on me, my body felt like it was overheating, my dress suddenly felt to tight, like I couldn't breathe.

"There was just bullet wounds starting to fly by my head, he was only aiming at me, he didn't try to kill Elijah or Grace, I took out my gun to shoot him but he managed to shoot me in the arm, I got two shots in him." I explained,

"I'll kill him, I swear." My father hissed, staring at his handkerchief that was slowly starting to turn into the color of my blood. We managed to get to the palace less than ten minutes later. There was a doctor already waiting for me when we got there, My father scooped me up into his arms, and lead me inside the castle, I had lost so much blood by now, I felt like I was about to pass out any second.

They lead me upstairs to the hospital, everything was a blur, and suddenly I was on the hospital bed, they were putting a ventilator mask on my face, and I was slowly losing consciousness.

---

I groaned my eyes fluttered open, the hospital room ceiling coming into view. My arm was killing me, my head was throbbing, there was still a ventilator mask on my face. I looked down at my arm, there was a large gauze bandage wrapped around my arm, I didn't know if I had surgery or if I was healed with magic, I couldn't tell.

"She's awake!" I heard a nurse say, as I took the ventilator took off. I heard several shouts before people started running up to my hospital bed. My friends, including Draco and family rushed in.

"How long was I out?" I groaned, I sat up, a nurse put the pillows behind my back.

"It's been well...almost four hours. Michelle said your body took a big toll from the gunshot." My dad said looking at his wristwatch.

"The man is he-"

"He's been taken into custody." Mum said, as a nurse handed me a cup of water. My family fussed over me for a few minutes, before giving me a chance to talk to my friends.

"You're making headlines all over the world, you know that?" Blaise said, as I finished my cup of water.

"Yeah, I'm not surprised."

"Especially since you're the first princess, I've ever heard to actually shoot her assassin." Thoe said, he took the cup of water from my hands and set it down on my nightstand.

"He kept firing even after he missed like four times. What a fucking loser. I was right there; it was an easy shot." I shrugged, touching my bandage.

"Was I healed magically or surgically?" I asked, Daphne shook her head.

"Magically, your dad had Michelle heal you. She slipped in a sleeping potion for you so you could properly heal."

"Oh, makes sense." I muttered, I unwrapped my bandage, there was a small scar, it looked like nothing even happened. I ran my finger over the scar, wondering why it didn't get healed as well.

"Your dad said to leave a scar, just in case anyone ever notices." Daphne explained, noticing my confused look.

"How did you even learn how to shoot like that?" Draco asked.

"Instead of going back to Hogwarts with everyone else, I had to enroll into the army, every prince or princess needs too. I spent the last four years there before becoming Minister. I was the best shot in my class, especially since I can shoot a spell just as easily and have been in a war before." I explained,

"Hm, impressive." Draco grinned, I shrugged a shoulder, sheepishly. As the hospital door opened again, and Alexander walked in.

"Alexander!" I gasped; Daphne rewrapped the bandage on my arm before he could notice that my wound was already healed. He walked over to us and sat down on my bed. I looked over at Draco, his smile slipped, his mouth in a thin line, his eyes hard, glued to Alexander's hand in mine.

"What are you doing here?"

"Do you think I wouldn't come see my fiancé after she got shot? Are you okay? Does anything hurt?"

"I'm just surprised..." I said.

"I don't know why you would be." He said, putting a strand of hair behind my ear. I felt a blush creep up my face, he kissed my hand, Daphne cleared her throat.

"We'll come back later and check on you, okay Mads?" Daphne asked, I nodded, she kissed my forehead, she looped her arm through Draco's, and the group walked out of the hospital room.

"We're you busy? Did I pull you away from something?" I asked, he ran his thumb over the palm of my hand, usually whenever he was affection, I would try to stop him, but I wasn't going to this time, it felt almost...comforting, nice.

"I'm not busy when it comes to your health. You're my future wife, my fiancé." He said, I smiled my cheeks reddening.

"Shut up." I laughed, making him smile.

"Are you going to stay long?"

"Just for the night. I have to go back tomorrow morning." He said,

"So soon?" I pouted, I really was good at giving him a chance, even if Draco's tense face lingered in the back of my mind, as I held Alexander's hand.

"I have work, we're both future kings and queens, aren't we?" He asked, I nodded.

"You're right. I know." We talked for another twenty minutes before a nurse came bringing me my dinner, and Alexander said he'd go freshen up before coming back later to see me.
