Madeline-

"Are you ready?" My new assistant, Juliette, asked me poking her head into my new office. I hired another assistant; Elizabeth was going to be in changed on my personal and muggle life and Juliette was going to help me as the Minister of Magic. I figured I needed a magical one since they understood this world better. I was going to be welcomed as the new prime minister in just 20 minutes. I stopped by my office, the prime minister's office, I wanted to take a good look at it, and set my belongings down before we took pictures. I rolled back my shoulders, and took a deep breath, before plastering a mask of confidence on my face and turning around to Juliette.

"I'm ready." I walked out of my new office, Michael shut the door behind me. He was going to be my bodyguard during my working hours. The three of us silently walked into the elevator, I was thankful for the silence, I needed to take a breath before the cameras were shoved in my face. We went down to the first floor of the ministry, where we were going to be swearing me in.  I squared my shoulders, smiled, as the elevator doors opened. People started cheering, the news photographer's camera's started flashing in front of my eyes, as I raised my hands and started waving at them.

The Minister, Kingsley Shackelbolt, stood in front of a podium on top of a stage. There were hunderds of people sitting on chairs in front of the stage. Every head of the departments sat in the very front. I walked up to Shackelbolt, shaking his head.

"Princess Ayer," He greeted before leaning down and kissing my knuckles.

"Minister Shackelbolt." He dropped my hand, covering the mic with his hand.

"Not for long, are you ready?"

"No but who is?" I asked, Shackelbolt grinned.

"Don't worry, you were born to be a leader, literally." He winked, uncovering the mic.

"Hello witches and wizards! As you all know, I have decided to step down from my position as Minister of Magic. I would like to thank you all for a wonderful five years as Minister..." I tuned him out my breath hitched, as my eyes landed on a man walking through the stands obviously trying to discreetly join the rest of the heads of department.  I knew exactly who that was, the man haunting my thoughts every day, every hour. I felt a hand wrap around my heart, and squeeze painfully as I stared at him.

Draco Malfoy was different from the last time I saw him in his bedroom during our breakup. His hair was longer, it swept across his forehead, touching his brows, beautifully parted in the middle. He was taller, I don't know how, but he stood at 6'2 now. His shoulders broad, his muscles straining against his Aurur uniform. He looked older much more mature than the last time I saw him at 18. His eyes clashed with mine as he got comfortable in his seat, his blue grey eyes poured into mine before I looked away as the Minister started calling my name.

"Princess Madeline Ayer," He picked up the book from the podium. The rules and legislations of the wizarding world and took out his wand. He held one in each hand, I put my right hand over the book and took out my wand. I repeated several promises after him, managing not to sound like a complete idiot. I had practiced with Daphne 4 times this morning, so I didn't mess up.

"I hear by announce you as our new Minister of Magic." He said, I grinned at him, as we took our wands and pointed them towards the ceiling. Gold streaks burst out of our wands, they coliid in the middle, 15 feet from the ground, the gold rained down over the crowd. They stood up cheering.

---

"There's our new Minister of Magic! How are you feeling?" Blaise asked, he through an arm around me, rubbing my head like a child.

"Ow, ow. Blaise my hair." I said, pushing him off. I flattened my hair, glaring at him. My friends surrounded me, covering the reports from any more pictures.

"So, how does it feel? Do you feel all powerful?" Theo asked, I nodded.

"Try me on an arm wrestle, I bet I'd win." We laughed as Theo scoffed. I looked around my eyes catching that white, blond hair talking to Potter.

"So...is your new assistant single?" Blaise asked, I pulled my eyes away from Draco.

"I don't know, I haven't asked. I hired her yesterday, Blaise."

"Do you think she'll go out with me?"

"Please don't date my assistant. I don't want to scare her off." I said, Blaise gasped, putting a hand over his chest.

"You act like I'm a player."

"Are you not?" I asked, he pursed his lips.

"I don't want to answer that."

"Where's Elijah and Grace?" I asked, they were sitting in the front row of my initiation but disappeared once we were done.

"I'm not sure-"

"Here! Right here!" Elijah shouted, Grace and Elijah looked around nervously. There eyes jumping around from the several groups of wizards that could attack them. I knew immediately that they did something.

"What the hell did you two do? This in my first hour as Minister."

"Nothing!"

"I'm innocent,"

"Grace, Elijah. I swear if something-"

"It's been fixed! Don't worry!"

"If I don't look into it, then it's fine."

"Your Highness, we'd like to take a picture with you and your siblings." One of the news reports said,

"Of course," I said, my friends excused themselves. The news reporter took several photos of the three of us, before they asked the heads of the departments for pictures. They all scrambled over, I stared at my feet as Draco passed by and stood in the back of the picture.

"Mr. Malfoy. Can you come to the front? Next to the Princess? We'd like the more bigger department heads right next to her." The photographer asked, did he want to kill me? Did he want me to crawl in a hole and die? I heard the group part, letting him through, my body tensed. The smell of his cologne filling my nostrils, I could feel the weight of his body moving next to mine. I squared my shoulders again, seeing him from the corner of my eye.

"Perfect, thank you! That should be all the pictures we need!" The photographer said, the camera dangling from his neck.

"Thank you," I said, he walked away before several department heads surrounded me. I shook their hands, looking around for Draco but he had disappeared again, and I had a feeling I wouldn't see him again until my department head meetings.
