Chapter 16

Draco-

"How come you never told me that the bakery lady was your aunt?" I asked Madeline. She glanced down at her engagement ring and shrugged. 

"I was going too. I just never got the chance, I didn't find out until that year Voldemort was at his worst, when she was off hiding. Then we broke up, and I never got the chance." She explained, an awkward silence fell over us. The topic of our breakup always halted every conversation we had. It was almost like a taboo topic that we shied away from.

"So, where are we going? I thought I was walking you to your room?" I asked, Madeline's mouth quirked up just a little. 

"We're going to our sunroom. Tonight, a comet is supposed to fly by, you see it once every hundred years. No one in my family's really into astrology but I thought that it would be cool to see it. You're supposed to make a wish on it. My father has locked all the doors to the roof, so the sunroom is going to be the best place to see it today." She explained, we turned a corner, climbing up a set of stairs. 

"That sounds really nice," I said. We walked up two flights of stairs, before she pushed open a door, the room was floor to ceiling in thick glass, but it almost looked like you can walk right off the edge of the castle from how clear it was. There were big black leather couches, with a brown coffee table in the middle, and one side table that held a large black lantern. But the view was what really draws you in. There were stars covering every inch of the night sky, connected to a huge forest, that almost put the forbidden forest to shame.

"This is my favorite place." Madeline said, she sat down on the largest couch, looking up at the sky, her eyes searched the sky, she was searching for the comet.

"When did they say that it would come out?"

"Late, almost 2am." Madeline whispered, I sat down on the couch next to hers, crossed my arms over my chest, and leaned against the couch. The moonlight was hitting her face, her eyes sparkling, her mouth parted just slightly, she probably didn't even realize it. Her long hair fell over her shoulders, she probably didn't even realize how beautiful she was.

I needed to look away, it wasn't my place to look at her like this anymore. But it was like my eyes weren't letting me. God, why did I have to be alone with her right now, why couldn't Daphne or Theo or Blaise be here, because I really hope I wouldn't do anything stupid.

"Did you know several members of my family are named after constellations?" I asked, she finally peeled her eyes away from the stars and looked at me.

"Really?"

"Bellatrix, Sirius, Andromeda, Regulus, Cygnus, and me. We're all constellations, there's probably a lot more I just don't have remember." I said, counting us off on my fingers. 

"Thats really cute actually." She laughed,

"How come Michael isn't named after a constellation?" 

"I'm not sure. Mum never really talked about Michael when I was growing up." I said, she shrugged.

"That makes sense." Madeline moved closer to the right side of the couch, and reached over to grab, suddenly the couch reclined, and practically became a bed for her.

"How are you supposed to see the constellation sitting up. You should come here." Madeline nodded towards the seat next to her. 

"I don't know if that's wise." I said, clearing my throat. Her mouth quirked up, just a little but I could tell.

"We're friends, don't worry, plus what if someone comes in to attack me, and you're all the way over there?" Madeline asked, I hesitated, the smart thing to do was say no, and stay over here. Tell her I can protect her from right here, but my legs had a mind of her own, and they stood up, and they walked me over to her.  I laid down next to her, but I kept a respectful distance from her.
