Soohee
The next day in literature class, Soohee found herself seated at the same spot near the front, her friends surrounding her. Despite her best efforts to focus on her studies, she couldn't help but steal glances at Jungwon, who was busy setting up for the lecture. His every movement seemed effortlessly graceful, and she found herself admiring the way his shirt fit perfectly, hinting at a toned physique beneath.
As class began, Jungwon started discussing a complex poem by T.S. Eliot. He moved around the room, engaging the students in a lively discussion. Soohee tried to pay attention, she really did, but her eyes kept drifting back to Jungwon's face, his expressive eyes, and his smile that seemed to light up the room.
"Choi Soohee, could you please explain what Eliot means by 'the still point of the turning world'?" Jungwon's voice cut through her thoughts.
Soohee snapped back to reality, realizing too late that she had no idea what he was talking about. Her mind had been too busy daydreaming to absorb anything from the lecture. The entire class turned to look at her, and she felt her cheeks burning.
"Uh, well, I think..." she stammered, trying to recall anything relevant. "It's, um, about finding peace amidst chaos?"
Jungwon raised an eyebrow, a small, amused smile playing on his lips. "Not quite, but a decent guess. Let's try to stay focused, okay?"
The class giggled softly, and Soohee sank into her seat, mortified. She shot a glance at Sunoo, who gave her a sympathetic smile, while Ni-ki and Jisoo tried to suppress their laughter.
As the lecture continued, Soohee made a concerted effort to pay attention, but it was no use. Jungwon's voice, his presence, everything about him was too distracting. When he called for a short break, she breathed a sigh of relief.
During the break, Sunoo leaned over and whispered, "Smooth, Soohee. Really smooth."
"Shut up, Sunoo," she muttered, burying her face in her hands.
Ni-ki smirked. "You were a bit obvious. Maybe try not to stare so much next time?"
Jisoo added, "Yeah, or at least try to pay attention to the lecture."
Soohee groaned. "I know, I know. It's just... he's so distracting."
Before they could continue their teasing, the break ended and Jungwon called the class to order. Soohee took a deep breath and resolved to concentrate, no matter how charming the teacher was.
As Jungwon resumed the lecture, he seemed to catch Soohee's eye more often. Was he doing it on purpose? She couldn't tell, but every time their gazes met, her heart skipped a beat.
"Alright, everyone," Jungwon said, "I want you to pair up and discuss your interpretations of the poem. Take about ten minutes, then we'll share with the class."
