Soohee
Soohee lay curled up in bed, the soft glow of her bedside lamp casting a dim light over her room. She stared at the photos on her phone: snapshots of happier times with Jungwon, their smiles wide and genuine. Each image felt like a painful reminder of what she had lost. Her heart ached with the weight of the breakup, a sensation she hadn't felt so deeply before. It was as if Jungwon had become a part of her life so integral that his absence was now an unbearable void.
Her parents' frequent absences meant that Jungwon had filled a significant emotional gap in her life. The void left by their lack of presence had been occupied by Jungwon's warmth and affection. Without him, everything seemed colder and emptier.
Needing a distraction and a bit of comfort, Soohee decided to head to the kitchen for some ice cream. She pulled on a cozy sweater and headed downstairs, her movements slow and lethargic. Just as she reached for the freezer door, the doorbell rang. Startled, she hesitated for a moment before shuffling toward the door.
When she opened it, she found Sunoo, Ni-ki, and Jisoo standing on her doorstep, concern etched on their faces.
"Hey, Soohee," Sunoo said softly, glancing around the dimly lit hallway. "We thought you might need some company."
Soohee managed a weak smile, stepping aside to let them in. "Oh, hey guys. I wasn't expecting you. What's up?"
Jisoo entered the house, her eyes scanning Soohee's face with worry. "We just thought you might want to hang out. You seemed pretty down earlier."
Ni-ki, always trying to lighten the mood, added with a playful grin, "We also heard you might be in need of some ice cream. Is it time for that already?"
Soohee chuckled faintly, leading them into the living room. "Yeah, I was just about to grab some. You guys can come in and make yourselves comfortable."
They all sat down on the couch, and Ni-ki grabbed a blanket from the armchair, draping it over everyone. Sunoo picked up the remote, flipping through channels aimlessly, while Jisoo settled next to Soohee.
"So, what's been going on?" Jisoo asked gently. "You seem a bit off today."
Soohee sighed deeply, her emotions catching in her throat. She looked around at her friends, feeling a lump form. "You guys, there's something I need to tell you. It's about Jungwon."
Sunoo's eyebrows shot up in curiosity. "Jungwon? What about him?"
With a deep breath, Soohee began to explain. "Well, Jungwon and I... we were seeing each other. I mean it's everywehre now. We've been together for a while, but... we broke up."
The room fell silent. Sunoo's eyes widened, and Ni-ki looked shocked. Jisoo was the first to speak, her voice soft but insistent. "Wait, what? You and Jungwon were dating, And now you've broken up?"
