Jungwon
Jungwon's apartment was buzzing with the sound of laughter and chatter as his friends gathered in the living room. The coffee table was cluttered with snacks, drinks, and a few random items that had accumulated from previous hangouts. Heeseung was lounging on the couch, his long legs stretched out as he scrolled through his phone. Jake was on the floor, leaning against the couch with a bowl of popcorn in his lap. Sunghoon was flipping through channels on the TV, and Jay was sprawled out in an armchair, munching on a bag of chips.
"Bro, this girl I'm seeing right now? She's something else," Heeseung said, his voice carrying a hint of excitement.
Jake looked up from his popcorn, raising an eyebrow. "Oh yeah? What's her deal?"
Heeseung grinned, sitting up a little straighter. "Okay, so get this. She's into all the stuff I'm into—music, games, even the same movies. It's like we were made for each other."
Sunghoon snorted, still focused on the TV. "Sounds like you've found your soulmate, man. What's the catch?"
Heeseung shrugged, trying to play it cool, but there was a glimmer of something more in his eyes. "No catch, really. It's just... I don't know. I feel like this one's different, you know? Like, we actually vibe on a deeper level."
Jay smirked, popping another chip into his mouth. "Heeseung's going soft on us. Who would've thought?"
Jungwon chuckled from his spot on the couch. "Nah, I think it's great. You deserve someone who gets you."
Heeseung flashed him a grateful smile. "Thanks, man. But enough about me—what's going on with you and Soohee? You've been all smiles lately."
The room quieted down a bit as all eyes turned to Jungwon, curious grins spreading across their faces. He felt a warm flush rise in his cheeks but smiled nonetheless.
"Yeah, what's the deal with you two?" Jake asked, leaning in with interest. "You've been acting all lovesick lately."
Jungwon shrugged, trying to downplay it, but the smile on his face gave him away. "I mean... things are really good. Like, really good. She's amazing."
Sunghoon turned off the TV, now fully invested in the conversation. "Amazing how?"
Jungwon hesitated for a moment, gathering his thoughts. "She's just... I don't know, she gets me, you know? Like, when I'm with her, everything feels right. We have fun, we can talk about anything, and she just makes me want to be a better person."
Jay made a dramatic gagging sound. "You're killing me here, man. You've got it bad."
Jungwon rolled his eyes but couldn't help but laugh. "Yeah, yeah, laugh it up. But honestly, I've never felt this way before. She's special."
Jake grinned, nudging him with his elbow. "You're really smitten, huh?"
Jungwon nodded, his expression softening. "Yeah, I am. I can't imagine being with anyone else. I just hope it stays this way forever, you know?"
Heeseung leaned back, crossing his arms with a thoughtful look on his face. "Well, as long as you treat her right and communicate, I don't see why it wouldn't."
Sunghoon chimed in, his tone teasing but supportive. "Just don't do anything dumb to mess it up. You've got a good thing going."
Jay, who had been uncharacteristically quiet, finally spoke up with a grin. "You know, this is the first time I've seen you like this, Jungwon. It's kind of cute. Almost makes me want to settle down too. Almost."
The group erupted into laughter, the mood lightening even more.
"I'm just glad she's not some psycho who's going to make you miserable," Jake added with a grin. "You've got our seal of approval."
Jungwon laughed, feeling a sense of relief. "Thanks, guys. That means a lot."
Heeseung leaned forward, his expression serious for a moment. "But for real, Jungwon, don't take her for granted. If she's as good as you say, make sure she knows how much you appreciate her."
Jungwon nodded, the weight of his words sinking in. "I will. I promise."
Sunghoon, always one to lighten the mood, smirked. "So when's the wedding, then? Should we start planning your bachelor party?"
Jungwon's eyes widened, and he quickly shook his head. "Whoa, whoa, slow down. We're not there yet."
Jay laughed, raising his drink in a mock toast. "To Jungwon, the first of us to get tied down!"
The room echoed with more laughter, and Jungwon couldn't help but join in, despite his embarrassment.
"Okay, okay, enough about me," Jungwon said, trying to shift the focus. "What about you guys? Any new developments in your love lives?"
Jake grinned, shaking his head. "Nah, man. I'm just living that single life, enjoying the freedom."
Sunghoon shrugged. "Same here. I'm just waiting for the right girl to come along. No rush."
Jay leaned back in his chair, crossing his arms with a smirk. "I'm in no hurry either. It's all about enjoying the journey, right?"
Heeseung, who had been quiet for a moment, suddenly piped up. "Well, you guys might be waiting a while, but I think I've found my person. So don't be too jealous when I'm off the market soon."
The group groaned in unison, playfully throwing cushions at Heeseung.
"Yeah, yeah, rub it in, why don't you?" Sunghoon grumbled, though he was smiling.
Jungwon laughed, feeling a warmth in his chest as he looked around at his friends. Despite all the teasing, he knew they genuinely cared about him, and that meant everything.
As the night wore on, the conversation flowed freely, filled with jokes, stories, and the kind of banter that only close friends could share. Jungwon felt at ease, his worries about the future melting away in the presence of his friends. No matter what happened, he knew they'd have his back, and that was more than enough.
By the time they were wrapping up the night, Jungwon couldn't help but feel grateful—not just for Soohee, but for the friends who were there to support him every step of the way.
"Alright, guys," Heeseung said as he stretched his arms over his head, "I think it's time to call it a night."
Jake nodded, getting to his feet. "Yeah, I've got an early morning tomorrow. Thanks for having us over, Jungwon."
"Anytime," Jungwon replied, standing up and walking them to the door.
As they all exchanged goodbyes, Jay clapped Jungwon on the back. "Remember, if you ever need advice—or just want to brag about how awesome your girlfriend is—you know where to find us."
Jungwon chuckled, nodding. "Will do. Thanks, guys."
As the door closed behind them, Jungwon leaned against it for a moment, a content smile on his face. He knew that no matter what, he had people who cared about him—and that made everything just a little bit easier.
