Jungwon & Soohee

Jungwon set the book aside, a satisfied smile on his face. "Well, that's enough reading for today," he announced, stretching his arms over his head. "Now, how about I whip us up something to eat?"

Soohee looked up from her laptop, her eyes lighting up at the idea. "You're cooking? What's the special occasion?"

"No special occasion," he replied with a playful shrug. "Just thought I'd treat you. Plus, you've been working hard, and you deserve a break."

She grinned, feeling a warmth spread through her chest at his words. "You always spoil me."

He chuckled as he got up from the couch. "Someone's got to, especially when you're stressing over assignments." He walked over to the kitchen, pulling out various ingredients from the fridge. "How about you relax and watch some TV while I get dinner started?"

"Sounds perfect," Soohee agreed, grabbing the remote and settling back on the couch. She flipped through the channels aimlessly, more focused on Jungwon as he moved around the kitchen. He was in his element, humming to himself as he chopped vegetables and prepped the stove. It was a simple, domestic scene, but it filled her with a sense of peace and contentment.

Jungwon kept up a steady stream of chatter, talking about a new recipe he wanted to try. "So I found this recipe online," he began, his voice filled with enthusiasm. "It's a fusion dish, kind of a mix between Italian and Korean. They call it Bulgogi Carbonara. Sounds weird, right? But I think it could be amazing."

Soohee listened to him ramble, a soft smile on her face. She loved how excited he got about things, how passionate he was. It was one of the many things she adored about him.

She was just starting to lose herself in the rhythm of his voice when her phone dinged, a new notification lighting up the screen. Curious, she reached for it, her smile fading as she opened the message.

Her heart dropped into her stomach as she read the text:

You fucking slut, whoring yourself out to your teacher. Guess it's true what they say, you'll do anything for a grade. How much does he pay you? Do your parents even know what a disgrace you are? Hope you like being everyone's favorite joke.

Attached was a grotesque, manipulated image of her—someone had crudely photoshopped an eggplant into her mouth, turning what was once a simple picture of her smiling into something obscene and degrading.

The words were like a punch to the gut, knocking the breath out of her. She stared at the message and the image, her mind racing. Who would send something like this? An anonymous username, no profile picture. It could have been anyone. The reality of the situation hit her hard. People knew about them—about her and Jungwon. And they were not kind about it.

"Soohee, you listening?" Jungwon called from the kitchen, unaware of the turmoil brewing inside her. "I was thinking of adding a bit of gochujang to the sauce, give it a nice kick. What do you think?"
