Soohee
The party was in full swing. Soohee was more than a little tipsy, having spent the night dancing and laughing with her friends. Her drink was now a cocktail of her own creation—mostly vodka with a splash of whatever was left in the cooler. The music was blasting, and she was in the middle of a dance floor, moving with abandon when a guy approached her.
"Hey there! Mind if I join you?" he asked, flashing a confident grin.
Soohee looked up, her vision slightly blurry but her smile wide. "Sure! The more, the merrier!"
The guy introduced himself as Hyun, and with a friendly, albeit slightly drunk, Soohee, they started dancing together. She was having so much fun that she barely noticed her phone buzzing in her pocket. She fished it out and answered the call without looking at the ID.
"Hello?" Soohee said, her voice slightly slurred.
"Soohee? It's Jungwon," came the concerned voice on the other end. "How are you? I just wanted to hear your voice."
Soohee giggled, "Hey, Jungwon! I'm at a party! It's so much fun!"
Jungwon's heart skipped a beat. "A party? Where are you? I'm getting a bad vibe here."
Soohee waved off his concern, "Oh, it's nothing. I'm just dancing. Chill out."
Jungwon's worry turned into panic. "Soohee, where are you? I need you to tell me exactly where you are right now."
"I told you, it's fine!" Soohee replied, her tone dismissive but slightly panicked. "I'm with... umm... this guy."
Jungwon's blood ran cold. "What guy? Soohee, stay on the line. I'm coming to get you."
Soohee didn't catch the urgency in his voice, too caught up in the party atmosphere. "Okay, but... don't be mad."
Jungwon hung up, his mind racing. He threw on his shoes and grabbed his car keys, heading for the door. His heart pounded as he sped out of the parking lot, breaking every traffic law in his path. He dialed Soohee's number again, gripping the wheel tightly.
"Hey, Soohee, I'm on my way. Where exactly are you? Describe your surroundings."
"Uh, there's a lot of people, and I'm near the—" Soohee paused, her voice muffled. "Hyun's here. He's—"
Jungwon's concern flared into full-blown anger. "Soohee, you need to get outside now. Do you hear me? Outside. I'll be there in a few minutes."
"Okay, okay," Soohee said, sounding both confused and compliant. "I'm going outside now."
Jungwon raced through the streets, cursing under his breath as he drove. "Damn it, Soohee. Please be safe."
When Soohee made it outside, she wobbled a bit, leaning against the wall for support. Her vision was still swimming, and she struggled to stay upright. She saw Jungwon's car screech to a halt in front of her, and he jumped out, looking more intense than she had ever seen him.
Jungwon rushed to her, his face a mixture of relief and worry. "Soohee! What the hell are you doing?"
Soohee looked up at him with a goofy smile. "Hi, Jungwon! You came to the party?"
He carefully put his arms around her, steadying her. "Not exactly. I came to take you home. Now."
Soohee tried to protest, "But I'm having fun—"
"No, you're not. You're drunk, and this guy—" Jungwon glared over at Hyun, who was now approaching with a sheepish expression. "Is no longer welcome here."
Hyun, sensing the tension, raised his hands in a surrendering gesture. "Sorry, didn't mean to intrude. Just thought she was having a good time."
Jungwon's gaze was cold as he watched Hyun walk away. He turned his attention back to Soohee, his voice softer but still firm. "Let's get you home."
He helped her into the passenger seat, making sure she was settled before getting in the driver's side. The drive home was quiet, the only sounds being Soohee's occasional murmurs and the rumble of the engine.
When they arrived at Soohee's house, Jungwon was quick to get out and help her inside. He was gentle but assertive, guiding her through the front door.
Soohee stumbled a bit, her arms swinging as she tried to stay balanced. "I'm sorry. I didn't mean to—"
Jungwon cut her off, gently cupping her face in his hands. "Soohee, it's okay. I'm just glad you're safe. Let's get you to bed."
They made their way to her room, Jungwon helping her settle into bed. He stayed by her side, brushing a strand of hair from her face.
"I was so worried," he admitted softly. "I don't want to see you in a situation like that again. It's too dangerous."
Soohee blinked up at him, her vision finally clearing a bit. "I know. I'm sorry. I was just having fun, but I should've listened."
Jungwon's expression softened, and he leaned down, pressing a gentle kiss to her forehead. "You don't have to apologize. Just promise me you'll be more careful."
Soohee nodded, her eyes heavy with sleep. "I promise."
He settled beside her, stroking her hair softly. "I'll stay here until you fall asleep. I just want to make sure you're okay."
"Thank you," Soohee murmured, already feeling the pull of sleep.
Jungwon smiled, his heart aching with a mix of relief and affection. "You're welcome. Just remember, I'm always here for you. Always."
As Soohee drifted off, Jungwon stayed by her side, watching over her with a protective gaze. The night had been a whirlwind of emotions, but as he looked at Soohee's peaceful face, he knew he'd do whatever it took to keep her safe and happy.
The party, the panic, and the drama were all worth it just to see her safe and sound.
