There's something 'bout her I just couldn't resist,
Even as love faded, she remained in my midst.

Since she said she doesn't trust boys anymore,
I still asked her to be honest once more.
"What if I say, give me a last chance,
Try to trust one last time, I'm a changed man."

She replied, "Ayush, go through your texts above,
You said you were done, can't do this again, love.
Why invite trouble back, why this stance now?
No, I can't trust again, I just don't know how."

I said, "No, like I want us to be friends, you see,
I don't love you, you don't love me.
So it's easy, isn't it? We can be friends, it's true."

"Sounds good," she said, "but no,
Guys are really good at being friends,
But not boyfriends, and being friends with your ex?
It's not healthy, it only extends."

The conversation continued past twelve at night,
Trying to keep her longer, a desperate plight.
We talked a lot, I continued the talk,
Trying to convince her to be friends, a hopeful walk.

"Let's at least keep contacts, stay in touch."

She said, "I'm like the rope running through your hand,
Hold it tight, it'll hurt, understand?
After discussing all the pros and cons,
We ended the convo with no bonds."

So my friends, this conversation began with a birthday wish,
Ended with an advance birthday wish, bittersweet finish.
