"I don't know Chels," I say, not wanting to go to a concert tonight.
"Ro, they're in town and you haven't been since we were fifteen."
I sigh, almost already planning on doing something with Harry tonight.
"If I go tonight, you need to stop hounding me to go out more," I say, carrying coffee carafes into the diner. I start to brew the coffee and Chelsea walks behind me.
"No. But I'll make it less of a hound," she says, my eyes rolling.
"I haven't heard anything about Game X since your brother was their lead guitarist," I explain, the garage band apparently getting their name out there.
"They got a ton of new music. They're like an alternative rock band now," she says, my shoulders shrugging.
"Depends. Nan might need her chicken fix tonight," I tease, walking back and pulling my hair into a bun. I wash my hands and hear JP singing his favorite song, my lips curving.
"Muy bien," I smile, his response something in Spanish. It's far over my head.
I just shake my head, his laugh ringing through the kitchen before his singing resumes.
"Ro, can you get table nine?" Chelsea asks, my head nodding.
I walk out and I see Anne, her body solo.
"Hi Anne," I smile, her smile reciprocating mine.
"Hello. I have a favor to ask of you. I'm meeting my husband tonight out of town until tomorrow. Harry doesn't want to leave the house for reasons unknown, so can you just check on him tonight?" she asks, my head nodding.
"Definitely. Why isn't he with you?" I ask, her lips releasing a sigh.
"Gemma spoke some words to him and now he's upset. They've never had the greatest relationship," she explains, my head nodding.
"She's out of the house tonight. She and her boyfriend are thinking about moving in together so she's over there a lot," she says, my lips curving.
"I'll check on him. No worries," I smile, her head nodding.
She gives me a hug before she walks out, my body moving back into the kitchen. My shift goes quick and Chelsea and I go to my place to get ready for the concert.
"I'm excited," she says, the two of us waiting in line for the concert.
"Haven't seen them for a while," I grin, knowing this concert is probably going to better now.
And it was. The music was really good and the singer, Freddy Xavier, kept looking at me. It made me interested to know what's running through his head.
"Freddy got big," I tell Chelsea, recalling his skinny physique back when we were in high school.
"I know. Chad told me he's worked out," she says, her brother knowing the ins and outs of the band.
After the concert, Chelsea and I are walking down the street when a car pulls over.
"You need a ride, Cheese Nip?" Freddy asks, Chelsea groaning at the apparently timeless nickname.
"No. We're walking to my car, dipshit," she says, his lips releasing a laugh before he looks to me.
"How you doing, Ro?" he asks, my head nodding as I smile.
"I'm good. I like the music," I smile, his lips curving.
"I'll see you around," he says, my head nodding as he drives away.
