Fitz landed. Feeling the cold sand under his feet. He sighed "Grrrrrrreat, now I'm stuck in the middle of nowhere."

He looked around, this place seemed similiar. He had never been there, it's like someone has planted a few memories in his mind.

One week. He said to himself. Seven days. He doubted he had enough time to fiugre everything out and bring Sophie back.

He started moving forwards, Keefe had told him about a few places of the Neverseen, and Sophie have been here.

Fitz hid in the bushes, waiting someone or a Neverseen member to appear. "This might take a few days." he thought to himself.

He stared at the words cut into the ring on his thumb, triggering another painful memory.

"I'm sorry for the two of you, but it is a fact that your Cognate connection broke."

Time paused. Fitz didn't know what to say and what to do, he wanted to comfort Sophie, but he knew that his ex-best friend is going to break in anytime.

Unfortunately, Keefe broke in the next second. Seeing him flirting with Sophie is another level of pain.

Fitz excused himself and went outside, hearing Sophie's cries and he couldn't stop himself from crying, too.

A few minutes after Fitz calmed down, he wanted to leave this place, not wanting to see both of them.

"Why don't you trust me?" Sophie came out of nowhere, her voice trembling.

Fitz simply ignored her. She grabbed his hand from behind.

"You won't understand."

Of course she won't understand, his life is a tragedy. Although his parents tried to make his childhood something he would like to remember, they can't stop unfortunate things from happening. His ex-best friend was using him to get closer to his sister. He thought everything changed after Sophie came to the Lost Cities. But unfortunately, no.

She dumped him, she played with his feelings. She stole his only friend, she left him alone.

After he did so many things to help her? He should've believed that she was dead. He should've chose not to defend for her when she read Dimitar's mind. He should've refused when his father sent him to find her.

"Fitz..." Sophie begged.

"You are an invisible sword, Sophie, whoever comes close will be hurt."

Sophie woke up again in the same dark room, her wounds pained so much that caused her to groan.

And that traitor was still watching her.

"Awake, huh?" his voice cold and hard, just like his mother.

"Stay away from me." Sophie growled, scooting slowly to the other corner, careful not to brush her wounds against the cold marble wall.

"Shut up, Foster."

Once again, a sickly sweet smell filled her lungs. Everything went dark.
