(SOPHIES POV): I woke up to blaring lights seeping through my eyelids. I let out a gasp as I used my arm to block the lights. Someone outside my vision helped me sit up. My muscles tensed at the movement. I slowly lowered my arm. Fitz and an older man stood in front of me. Fitz's eyes were drowned with worry and his fists were clenched. The man watched me curiously. I looked to my side to see a worried Elwin. "What happened?" I asked in a hoarse voice, shifting my eyes between the three. "Fitz and Tiergan found you outside the telepathy room." Elwin answered quietly. The memories flooded into my head. The man, who I guessed was Tiergen motioned to Elwin. "Could you leave us for a moment." Elwin nodded and silently left.

"What's the Black Swan." I asked, before I could regret it. Tiergan froze. "You heard." Not a question. "Who are they." I asked again. After a few seconds, Tiergen spoke "A rebel group." "That you're a part of." I stated. Again, not a question. Fitz walked towards me, grabbing my shoulders. "You can't tell anyone about this." He pleaded. "Is Tam involved too?" I asked. Fitz flinched. I took that as a yes. "I'm guessing everyone at that table is involved." I stated. Fitz let go of my shoulders. "Yes." he muttered.

"What about Prentice?" I demanded. Tiergen's eyes widened. "How did you hear of that name." I refused to answer. Tiergens eyes looked pleading, and a sense of guilt washed over me. "I overheard from someone." I whispered, a lie. Tiergen's eyes narrowed but he didn't say anything. Elwin came back into the room. "Edaline is here to pick Sophie up." I nodded and attempted to stand up as the blood rushed to my head. I fell over onto Fitz, luckily, he caught me. I used his hands to balance myself up. "Thanks." I whispered. I walked out to the door. I uncrumpled my hand, revealing the letter from Fitz's pocket. If they wouldn't tell me about Prentice, or the rest of their "Black Swan" I would find out myself!

I sprawled on my bed rereading the letter for the twentieth time.

Dear, Fitz

Two days ago, we lost contact to the illuminate base in Mt. Everest. Files were lost, luckily most of the information still stands. We assume it's behind the work of the unknown figures. The Black Swan is going to regroup to strategize in three days' time. Do not make any moves unless we tell you before then. Please relay this message to your fellow members.

- Black Swan

The words illuminate base tugged into my memory. I closed my eyes, imagining myself swimming through my mind, when I found a memory tucked under shadows. A door secreted in a high mountain, unnoticeable except for the faint trace of lines. My eyes widened. This must be the base! A plan started to form in my mind. If I could find the base, I could figure out the information inside! But how could I do it alone. Fitz had admitted all my new friends were in the Black Swan, but Keefe liked me. Would he help me? I hoped so. Before I could think I ran down to the leap master "Candleshade!" I yelled.

(KEEFES POV): I sat on my bed, doodling inside my sketchbook when the door burst open. Sophie walked inside, sweat on her face. Her forehead was creased with worry, and I dropped my sketchbook. Sophie found my eyes and her cheeks blushed red. I looked down realizing I was missing a shirt. My cheeks turned pink in embarrassment. I grabbed a shirt on the floor and pulled it over my head. "Hey." I murmured. Sophie walked over to me and plopped onto the bed. "Are you alright?" I asked, grasping her hands. "Can I ask you a favor! She spoke. "Of course." I replied. She closed her eyes as if preparing herself. I used the time to admire her looks. Her hair was a beautiful blond, and her lips were pink, and I had to restrain myself from leaning towards them. Sophie opened her eyes again, then said "Keefe, I need your help infiltrating a Black Swan base." My eyes widened. "Wha.." I started to ask. She shushed me. "I can't explain but are you with me!" Her tone sounded pleading. Guilt washed over me. I sighed. "I'll do whatever you need." Her eyes lit up. "Oh, thank you!" She shouted. She embraced me tightly and my cheeks flushed. "You're squeezing my ribs, Foster." I remarked. She let go as I felt a sense of relief. I hoped she hadn't heard my heart thumping like crazy. "Do you have a clear leaping crystal?" She requested. My eyes widened, but I nodded. "In my father's office." Sophie nodded. "Let's go."

Taking the vortinator, we made our way up to father's office. I listened for any voices, before opening the door. I led Sophie to a corner where a pale leaping crystal sat. "Here goes nothing." I murmured. I grabbed the crystal and gave it to Sophie. "Do you have heavier cloaks?" She asked, turning to me. "Yeah, in the closet." I said, pointing to the left. I was so confused at this point, that I didn't question as she led me to the closet and handed me and herself a heavy cloak. I pinned mine onto my shoulders quickly. I saw her struggling, so I leaned over to help pin hers. My hand glazed across her neck while finishing the last pin. I instantly retracted my hand. "Done." I whispered, turning my head away. Sophie turned her head around and held out her hand. I accepted it as she held the crystal up into the air. "Everest!" She shouted. "WHAT!?" I yelled, as the light took us away.
