(Sophies POV): "So..what, do I make toys in the North Pole". I said, trying to contain myself. Keefe laughed as if that was the silliest thing he'd ever heard. "No, though now I do wish I could see that." He said. Fitz elbowed him. "Hey what the heck man!" Keefe shouted. "You're freaking her out!" Fitz responded. The two started arguing and I sighed. It was like watching two idiots. Dex moved closer to me. "Sorry about them." "It's alright." I replied, "Did you really not know about this." Dex asked, gesturing to the giant castle. "No. I been living in New York as long as I can remember." I answered. "It's always been me and my mom." A smile reaching my face, even in this situation. Dex looked at me thoughtfully, and I felt Biana eyes burning into my back. Suddenly Fitz approached me with an annoyed Keefe. "I'm sorry if I made you uncomfortable." Keefe mumbled. "It's ok." I replied.

Keefe's cheeks turned red. Must be embarrassed, I thought. "What now?" I asked directing my question to Fitz. "Well, I guess now that we know you're an elf, we should try to move you to the lost cities as soon as possible." Fitz answered. My eyes widened. "No!" I shouted. The outburst took everyone by surprise." "I'm not leaving my mom for some people I just met!" I shouted again, anger in my tone. "Hey, calm down..." Keefe whispered, approaching me slowly. He placed his hand on my shoulder and a wave of calm emotions swirled through me. "What was that...?" I asked. Keefe smirked at me. "I'm an empath, meaning I can read and sometimes manipulate people's emotions." He said. Wow, I thought than almost felt like hitting myself. Don't get distracted! He's trying to trick you! "This still won't change my mind, I'm not going with you." I repeated. Keefe's smirk faded. "We won't force you." He replied, eyeing Fitz. "But, I will suggest taking this." He pulled out a circular disk and placed it into my hand. "This is an imparter, you just have to say my name to contact me." He explained. "My name is Keefe, this is Fitz, and over there is Biana and Dex." I nodded. "Thank you." I said gratefully. Keefe nodded as well, then held out his hand. "Let's get back." I smiled and accepted his gesture as the others latched on as well. We leaped back to the alleyway and Keefe let go of my hand. "See ya!" He teased then leaped away again with the others.

*THREE DAYS LATER*

It had been three days since that very strange encounter. I kept the imparter in my desk at all times, in case of an emergency. Keefe's voice swirled in my mind, making my heart pump faster. I shook my head. I couldn't believe I was turning into one of those girls. I looked outside my bedroom window when I caught a flicker of movement in the corner of my eye. I scanned the outside. It looked normal. Some people walking along the sidewalk, terrible traffic, some tre-. Then I saw it. A figure in a black cloak hid behind one of the trees. He adjusted his position showing a white eye on the side of his cloak. Suddenly a memory washed through my mind, and I clutched my head. I caught snippets of words, for example "Neverseen, dangerous, everblaze." Once the headache had faded, I ran to my desk and grabbed the imparter. "Keefe." I whispered.
