(Sophies POV): I paced back and forth on the sidewalk. The call still swirling around my mind.
*HALF HOUR EARLIER*
Keefe: Is everything alright?!
Sophie: I saw some creepy guy outside my window! He had a black cloak, and a white eye!
Keefe: What!?
Sophie: Yeah! Then I got some sort of headache and I saw all these things an-!!
Keefe: Calm down! Is there somewhere we can meet.
Sophie: In front of my apartment! It's on wall street!
*muted voices talked in the background of Keefe*
Keefe: Ok, I'll be there in thirty minutes!
*PRESENT TIME*
A light suddenly flashed, blinding me temporarily. Once my vision had returned, I saw Keefe standing in front of me. I ran into his arms. Keefe hugged me tight. "Shhh, you're ok now." I blinked back tears that had started to form. After a minute Keefe let me go. "We're going to leap to a more secure location to talk." Keefe stated. My mouth was still hoarse from crying, so I managed a slight nod. I grabbed onto Keefe's hand as he pulled out the blue crystal. Then, we were gone.
I opened my eyes to see a giant glowing gate. I shielded my eyes as the gate slowly opened. My mouth gaped open at the sight. A huge mansion that looked like it was fit for royals stood before me. Before I could react further, Keefe dragged me inside the home. We made so many turns, that I lost track of them until we made it into what looked like a living room. Biana and Fitz sat on the couch across from two adult figures. They were staring at the ground, almost guiltily? One of the figures, a man, stood up and approached me. "I'm Alden, my son explained to me what happened, may I see." He reached for my temples, and I flinched. Alden gave me a warm smile. "I just want to look at your memories." "Don't worry, its safe." Keefe whispered. Finally, after a few seconds I nodded. Alden slowly reached for my temples, "It'll be quick." He reassured. I counted to 240 seconds, before he finally let his hand down. So much for being quick. "Interesting..." Alden said. "You couldn't hear anything either." Fitz remarked, looking up. Alden nodded. "No reason to worry." Alden insisted seeing my expression. Alden motioned for me to sit down, and I plopped down next to Fitz and Keefe aside me.
"My son told me you have been living with humans, is this correct? Alden asked. "Yes." I said quietly. The woman next to Alden looked over to me. Alden turned to her, then back to me. "I'm sorry, I haven't properly introduced. I am Alden as you know, and this is my wife, Della." Della smiled at me. "I'm Sophie." I said, attempting a smile back. "Sophie, a very pretty name." Alden replied. My face flushed. "Thank you." I responded. Then Alden's face turned serious. "We need to discuss something important." "Ok." I said, confused. "We have an Elvin council here, somewhat like your human leaders. They have declared that you must live here, in the lost cities and attend Foxfire." My eyes widened as I realized the meaning. Tears sprouted in my eyes. "But, what about my mother!?" I asked. "She won't know you exist." He replied, sympathy in his voice.
"Isn't there anything you can do!" I shouted. Keefe placed his hand around my waist, as if comforting me silently. Alden went silent for a moment. "I may be able to give you ten minutes, to say your goodbyes. "Would that be enough?" Alden asked quietly. It would never be enough, but I would take anything I could get. "Yes." I replied. Alden nodded then said "Keefe will go with you for protection. I can only give you ten minutes, don't be late. I nodded. Alden gestured to Keefe. He whispered something in his ear and slipped a circular object in his pocket. "I'll see you soon." Alden voiced. I grabbed onto Keefe's hand as we leaped away.
Sorry for the rushed chapter! I didn't want to drag the scene on forever, and I promise the next chapter will be longer!
