(SOPHIES POV): I closed the door to the two-bedroom apartment. My mom's thoughts instantly bombarded me. "Where were you, young lady!?" She shouted. I ignored her and rushed for a hug. My mom embraced me, silently then said a little quieter, "Sweetie, is everything alright?" Tears burned my eyes. I looked up to my mother, memorizing every detail of her face. "I love you mom." I whispered. "I love you too." She replied. I slowly pulled out of her embrace. "I'll be right back." I said, going to my room. I entered my room and grabbed a backpack from my shelf. I shuffled in a few shirts, some albums, and a few other keepsakes. The bag looked so small, and I wished I could take more. I sighed and hooked the backpack onto my shoulders. I walked out of the doorway, but my mom blocked the front door. "Where do you think you're going missy." She stated. "Please get out of my way." I pleaded. "Not until you tell me what's going on!" She yelled. I swallowed down my emotions and took a deep breath. "Mom I'll be right back." "You are not leaving! Listen to me!" Mom shouted. Tears sprouted in my eyes. Suddenly a voice came from behind me. "Hold your nose and close your eyes." I listened as I heard a gasp then a thud as something hit the floor. I slowly opened my eyes and my mouth gaped open. "Mom!" I shouted. I ran over to her, but Keefe stopped me. "She's just unconscious. We need to get out of here." I collapsed to the floor, shaking with sobs. I felt Keefe's arms as he embraced around me. "It's all my fault!" I shouted.

"It's ok Sophie, just breathe in." Keefe insisted. I took a deep breath swallowing my emotions. I imagined tucking them inside a folder marked "later". "You good to leave?" Keefe whispered. I gave a small nod. Keefe placed his hand in mine and pulled me up. I didn't look over to the figure lying in the ground, it would be too much to bear. I turned my gaze to Keefe, only staring at him as we walked out the door. Keefe held up the crystal and we leaped away.

"This isn't Everglen." I stated, looking onto the vast island. Keefe went behind me and placed his hands on my shoulders. I felt my face flush red. "Look up." He spoke. I directed my head up. My eyes widened. A rainbow of colors painted through the sky. "It's..." "Beautiful" Keefe finished for me. I turned my head around. "How did you know of this place?" Keefe's eyes bored into mine, a feeling I couldn't place. Sorrow? Guilt? "What's wrong Keefe?" I asked worried. I turned my body around and grasped his hands. "You can tell me."

"I'm sorry, I knew what was going to happen today, and I didn't tell you.." Keefe admitted, looking down. I grabbed his chin and pulled it up to face me. "I don't care Keefe, you did the right thing." I said softly. His face blushed bright red, and his usual smirk appeared on his face. He waved my hands away "Yeah, yeah. I got it." I smiled and tugged him into a hug. "Whatever idiot." He chuckled and pulled the leaping crystal out of his pocket. "Let's go back, alright." "Alright." I agreed. A light flashed, and we were gone, leaving the beautiful sunset behind us.

We arrived at Everglen. Alden was pacing outside. Once he saw me, he pulled me into an embrace. "Are you ok?" He whispered. I nodded and looked over to Keefe. "Better now." Alden rushed me inside as Keefe leaped away. Fitz and Biana were in the sitting room. Fitz instantly stood up and ran over to me. He grasped my hands. "Are you-." "Yes." I interrupted. He gave me a movie star smile, making my heart skip a beat. Bianca glared at me behind Fitz. "Fitz can you take her to the guest room." Alden asked. Fitz nodded and let go of my hands, motioning for me to follow him.

We walked up a few floors until we made it to two giant white doors. Fitz opened the doors revealing a giant canopy bed, a waterfall shower and a beautiful carpet that reminded me of the sunset I saw with Keefe. My face flushed thinking about that moment. Shut up stupid brain! I thought. I turned back to Fitz. "Thank you." Fitz smiled and tucked a hair strand behind my ear.  "Goodnight Sophie."

"Goodnight" I replied.
