The call with my mum went as expected. She talked to me about her recent community service activities with the church and how she's been saving the world in her way. How dad's still in D.C. but hopefully work will be less dire soon.

And finally after forty five minutes, she allowed me to speak. But the conversation probably sent a dagger right through her chest. Because I had to tell my mum I was married over the phone. She almost hung up. Well, at first she didn't like that I was joking with her.

But when she realized there was no joke. That's when she almost hung up. But she was more so interested in an explanation.

Growing up my mum told me lying was a sin and that liars could never be trusted. God was watching and judging, I don't believe he was judging me. Because according to my Dad he loves all and judges none.

That's something they disagree on.

My mum was more extreme and my father was not. He just agreed with whatever my mum said even though I knew he didn't really. It was simply to just shut her up, and now they barely even live together. They lie about the traveling to see each other.

My father's job requires him to be in Washington at all times almost. He couldn't really tell me much about it but I knew he wasn't allowed to get too left or right. He was more independent with a wife who yelled at me for getting my ears pierced with Reagan at eleven.

I was never allowed to wear them and the holes closed.

But now I'm in the passengers side to Kingstons most casual car, a navy ranger over. When those words left his mouth I wanted to slap him across the face. That was more than most people's years salary and here he was calling it casual.

He didn't own any SUV's besides this. He bought it because he had to go on a camping trip and it 'drove nice'. I liked it because he made the center console compartment a snack one.

"And you're sure this dinner is a good idea. I mean, you told your mom you got married in Italy to the love of your life. Now we are just showing up to dinner?" I never heard Kingston nervous before, but here he was. Afraid to meet his in-laws.

"Who said it was to the love of my life?" I ask and I gain a glare from Kingston. I just shook my head in tease. "My mum insisted, she wants to meet you. I told her we'd be having another ceremony, she said she wanted to tell dad. So who knows what this will be." His hand squeezed mine as I stared out the window.

"We are five minutes out... is there anything else I should know. I know I shouldn't know every single thing but the big ones," it's almost like he knew I was hiding something. God I should've told him earlier; I'm worse than Matt.

He'd be meeting my entire family, including the Attorney General of the United States. For safety, my father kept me and my siblings out of the limelight of his job when he began in Washington.

"Don't try and do a British accent or say pip-pip, I've seen it happen. Beth's ex boyfriend was gone in a week," he grimaced as I nod.

I needed to tell him the truth. I don't think it would be a bigger deal, but my husband is in the Italian mafia. Now he was about to meet the Attorney General, because he's married to his daughter. What the fuck.
