You know that feeling of bile in your throat. It's not going to come up, but it sits there just bugging you. Almost like it's taunting you in some way in warning.

Because Kingston just introduced me as his wife to a group of his workers. And one of them happens to be my ex boyfriend of four years who proposed and I rejected him, five months ago.

God I was going to hell and if not this was my punishment. Because I'd fucked up, maybe I did need to go to church more. Because this was a mess that I threw myself in and I needed gods forgiveness.

He was ready to tell the world about his wife and I wasn't even ready to tell my family. But later tonight I knew I needed to make a dinner with my family. I feared my father the most, because he was the one I'd been lying about to Kingston.

But he kept his children tucked away for safety, his name was not Gavin as I explained. Now we were both liar from what it seemed. But it was easy to just spring who my father was onto a person. Man was I an idiot.

Now I stood beside my ex, as another man's wife.

"Wife?" I heard him say aloud gaining the eyes of everyone else. But his were laced with betrayal and I felt it in the pit of my stomach. It wasn't because I loved him, it was because I didn't. What he'd done in past discretions confirmed that.

I led him on just to do this, to destroy him. Now there was nothing he could do. Because I was married to his boss, the man who makes or breaks a future.

"Yes," I say and look back to Kingston who could sense something was up. "It's lovely to meet you all..." god I was awkward, but for some reason it amused Kingston more. The look on his face changed as I smiled awkwardly, he wanted to laugh at me.

"Man I don't know why she married you look at her?" His voice rings in my ears and I smile at the sight of Marcello, "You must be crazy... it should've been me!" He presses his heart to his chest in dramatics and I almost forget Aiden is even there.

"Who even invited you?" The rattle of Kingston's voice makes the group laugh and he glanced over to Rachel who stared at him, blushing.

"I think I'm her favorite," he whispers not so loudly and Kingston links his arm to mine.

"Well I have a toast to make and I need to run away from that guy," Kingston excused himself and I as he walked us to the center of the room. Now I truly felt in the spotlight and maybe I finally was feeling sick.

"We have to tell my family before announcing myself as your wife to the media," I warn him and he nods in understanding.

"These are my trusted employees, they have NDA's for even just being in this room Alina," He steps aside and squeezes my hand as everyone circled around us champagne glasses in hand and me with a martini.

"I'd like to make a toast as I now solely reside in the New York offices; and to my beautiful wife, Alina, her support means the world to me. The only thing in my life that make things feel worth it, my love," he steps back and tilts the glass towards me as did everyone else else.

"Cheers" he says followed by the echoed words of others. But my attention now fixates on Matt who stood beside Aiden. But me and Matt had an understanding and I was more confused than ever.
