Alina Windsor

The building in front of me was almost intimidating. It was one of the tallest buildings in the city, with Romano plastered on the front. I didn't even know what he did for work, but here I was outside his building.

This was a different kind of success. I knew he was wealthy; I also knew he had lines of work. But this, this was almost astonishing. He worked more than his ass off for a building like this.

"Excuse me, M'am." I turned to see I was blocking the way for some people, and I moved aside as they filed in. I was just lost in the looks of this place, something way out of my league.

I was confused when he asked me to come in today. He's never really talked much about his work or what he does. Kingston being in New York was strange, and having such a holding here but tending to Italy was even more strange.

The revolving glass doors take me through the entrance, and I'm left with a grander lobby. Inside, it looked like the four seasons, and it was honestly absurd. I had no clue where I was going; he just told me to find Rachel.

But nobody had a name tag here, just suits and blouses. Thankfully, I came straight from work, so I wasn't underdressed.

People didn't stop moving. It was like a hive of stressed workers. Across the room, I saw a desk. It seemed like some type of help desk, so I went over.

The three people were either glued to their phones or computers. So I knocked on the desk to get someone's attention, but it only gained me a glare and then returned back to their work.

"Hi, I'm looking for Rachel I have a meeting with Kingston Romano?" But now, the iPad kids seemed detached as I gained their attention with just a few words.

"Mrs.Romano?" One of them asked.

"Uh... yes, that would be me, but it's just Alina." They all seemed to be competing to help me now.

"Rachel is wrapping something up quickly, and Mr.Romano is almost done with his meeting-"

"I'd be happy to escort you to the private waiting room. Would you like anything? We have water, sparkling or stilled, and champagne? Or soda... we have it all." A smile was plastered on this girl's lips, and the guy looked annoyed at her for cutting him off. "I'm Cindy, and this is Madison and Cole." I smiled at the other two.

"I'm all set. It's lovely to meet you three." Cindy quickly moved around the desk to take me away from the crowds of the busy lobby. I followed her to the glass room with pink and green lounge chairs ahead. It looked so tranquil in there but empty.

"I'm fine to wait in the regular lobby?" She shook her head and escorted me inside.

"Mr.Romano wouldn't like that; you're not just anyone. It wouldn't be appropriate," Cindy pointed to a connecting door that leads to another staff lounge, and I was welcome to head in there. Then she excused herself.

It almost felt weird and maybe a little suffocating in this glass box. Well, I started to notice people on the other side of the glass staring at me. That's when it felt more weird as if I was under a microscope. So I turned my heels to the lounge.

It was loosely filled with people, taking lunch, or just relaxing. But the food options didn't go unnoticed, it was like a dining hall but the food didn't look half as shitty as other places.
