We left Grogu with the Dutchess and Duke. Mando tried to get me and Jay to stay but he underestimated the stubbornness of two teenagers.
Now we stand in the control room, listing to the commissioner speak about the droids.
"These droids were all reprogrammed to serve the community from the stockpile of captured Imperial robotics scheduled to be scrapped at Karthon." Videos of droids popped up on the screans as he spoke. "The droid's reprogramming was a complete success, until one day, an isolated event..."
I glanced back up at the screan to see a seemingly normal trash droid suddently glitch out and throw trash around.
"Then others..."
Another video of a droid malfunction, after another.... after another.
"This is just a small collection of malfunctions that our security cameras caught."
"Turn them off." Jay voiced, his tone still with a hint of anger.
"What?"
"Why not turn them all off?" Bo-Katan continued. "Who's in charge of that?"
"I am." The commissioner said. "There's a failsafe cutoff switch built into the system." His hand ran over the giant red button. "However..."
"What?" Mando sounded annoyed.
"The citizens voted against any interruption in droid services." The commissioner laughs."They can't live without it."
I crossed by arms, shifting my weight onto my other foot. "And why's that?"
"The citizens are no longer required to work and can spend their days engaging in recreation, the arts, and participating in our direct democracy. If we shut down the droids, our citizens wouldn't know how to survive. Our society would collapse."
Bo sighed. "Then what do you want from us?"
"To seek out and decommission any remaining rogue droids, until we can fix the problem."
"Give us the list."
"Well, for that, you'll have to go to the lower level and speak to the Ugnaughts."
'Ugnaughts?" My thoughts Instandly went to Kuiil and IG......I missed them.
"Ugnaughts."
we hoped on the lift and road it down. Mando, Jay, Bo and I, silent at first
"See what happens when you rely on droids?" Mando grumbled.
My gaze jumped to Mando.
"Are you taking this personally?" Bo asked
"Just pointing it out."
I sighed. "I thought you were over the droid hating thing?"
Mando shifted his weight and turned his helmet away from me.
