Kayla POV

What the actual fu-
I stopped myself from cussing. But seriously, what the hell was going on? It's not like anyone could answer me, I was currently in my car in the school's parking lot screaming at the top of my lungs and trying to figure out what the hell I'd just heard.

Peterson texted me because he wanted me to go home. Mr Warren asked to see him after school and I expected the meeting to be brief so after, we could probably go get ice cream. However, it was far longer than I expected and after hearing everything I'd just heard, I began to understand why it took so long.

When I received the text from Peter saying I should go home, I blushed and told him that nothing he did would make me go without him. Saying that, I waited patiently in my car for my boyfriend to come out.

I checked the time. It was past 3:00 pm and we got off school about an hour ago. I got impatient and decided to go wait for Peter in front of the lesson hall, preferably to surprise him. I wasn't aware that I was the one who was going to be surprised.

I made my way to the lesson hall where we just had our Econ class and stopped short when I heard Peter's voice. "Hey dad."

Dad?

I peeped into the hall to see if Peter's dad was there perhaps. He wasn't. Then, was Mr Warren his dad? I gasped at the realization and quickly covered my wide mouth with my palms before the father and son duo notice me.

"You're back together with Kayla, aren't you?" This time, it was Mr Warren or should I say Peter's dad? I stood there for a good ten minutes eavesdropping before I heard the sound of Peter standing up from his seated position and I quickly ran out of the hallways and into my car.

Now, I had a million questions. But before making any assumptions, I was going to ask Peter myself. For now, I needed to focus on my birthday party.

My birthday was coming and my mom suggested I throw a party. I never really celebrated my birthday grand style, but my mom suggested it all of a sudden and I wasn't going to turn down her offer.

I drove home with the hopes to get my mind off everything by blasting Megan Thee Stallion in my car. Yes, I was crazy like that. Upon getting home, I was surprised by my mom who had already started setting up decorations for my birthday party which was in two days. I dropped my bags and greeted her as I went forward to assist her with the decorations.

"Hey mom. I'm back." I said, in the cheesiest way one can imagine.

"Staying out later than usual is your hobby now, is it?" She answered without even taking one glance at me as she tried to hang up a balloon in the shape of the number one.

I walked towards her and gave her a back hug and stylishly snatched the balloon from her hands and hung it myself. "I'm sorry mom." I dragged my tone longer than it should be, blinking my eyelashes at her hopelessly.

"Only because it's your birthday soon, young lady." She gave me a long glare and scanned me head to toe before taking the second balloon which was in the number seven and hung it herself.

I took off my jacket and made my way to my room to ponder, or possibly overthink what I'd just heard in the lesson hall.
