"Happy birthday to you!" Everyone sang as I clapped happily. I was overwhelmed with excitement. I looked down at my pink heart-shaped cake that had a cute bow made of fondant right on top.

"Alright everyone. We're going to spell 'Kayla' and then she'll cut the cake, okay?" Morowa announced and everyone nodded in agreement.
She looked so beautiful today. She had her natural hair in braids and rocked a beautiful black strapless mini dress. Looking at her, I felt so content. Although, a part of me felt missing because Sarah was not here yet. Since that day we visited her home, she had only been to school once and I got the chance to invite her for my party. She agreed to come, but now she wasn't here.

I looked around the happy crowd waiting for me to cut my cake and saw my boyfriend, Peterson. He was smiling from ear to ear signaling for me to cut my cake with his fingers. I eventually decided not to ask him about what I heard about Mr Warren being his dad. If he wanted to tell me about it, he probably would. But since he didn't, he might have a good reason why he kept it from me.

My mind could not help but wish Isaac was here. I was not bold enough to invite him, but he must've heard about it. Since our last conversation about how he was being blackmailed, I've barely said anything to him. It seemed like he had a lot to say but something, or probably someone was stopping him from saying so. Then again, it was not my problem. Isaac and I are done. I plan on moving on from him with Peterson.

I shook my head in an attempt to snap my poor self back to reality which was my entire family and friends waiting for me to cut my cake already. I looked down at the knife and sliced the cake with it. Everyone clapped and the DJ turned up the music and the crowd dispersed to go find their own source of entertainment. I cut a piece of the cake and took a bite of it as I made my way to Morowa.

"She's not here yet, is she?" I asked trying my best to stop the tears in my eyes from flowing.

"No. I'm really sorry Kayla. I know how much you wanted her here." Morowa answered, rubbing on my shoulders.

"I need to use the restroom. I'll be right back." I said and ran up the stairs to my bedroom, avoiding everyone who looked my way.

I got to my room and slammed the door shut. I made my way to the front of the mirror and stared at my reflection. Even a blind person would be able to sense how pretty I looked. My birthday dress was stunning. It was a strapless ruffle pink dress with delicate details and an elegant silhouette. My brunette hair was curled and styled beautifully. My makeup was mild, but it still stood out. I looked beautiful, but I wasn't happy.

I ran to the restroom and sat on the toilet seat, balling my eyes out. Missing Isaac hurt more this time because I got back together with Peter and the fact that Sarah wasn't here did not ease the pain one bit. My chest tightened and all of a sudden, I found it difficult to breathe. I gasped for air and gripped onto the hem of my dress tightly. In the midst of all this, I heard someone tapping on my bathroom door.

"Kayla! Are you in there?" It sounded like Isaac or probably I was just being delusional because of how much I missed him.

"It's me, Isaac. Open up Kayla or I'm coming in!" He exclaimed, worry laced in his cracked voice.

"Is- Isa- Isaac.. it's.. me." I managed to answer before I passed out.

QOD:

It might be a bit too early to start asking but.. Team Isaac or Team Peter?

Personally, I'm Team Isaac. 😛
