The shift dragged on endlessly until Lucy finally saw Tim coming to pick her up.

"Hey Lucy, are you ready?" he greeted her with a smile.

"Yes, I was able to help Angela a lot today," she explained, carefully standing up and packing her things, making sure to hide the wrapped pregnancy test with the positive result from Tim.

The drive was quiet. Lucy didn't know what to say, so she listened to Tim talk about his day, nodding and asking a few questions, while her mind was preoccupied with how she would tell Tim about the test result. She kept recalling Angela's words: He wanted a family.

Tim wanted to shower first, and Lucy agreed, giving herself a little more time before she had to talk to him. Kojo, the dog Lucy once bought, trotted over to her. He had changed so much since being trained by Tim. She was glad he was there; he gave her an idea. She petted his head, took the test out of her bag, and tied it to a small band on his collar.

"Kojo, come here," she called, and the dog followed her. "Sit," she instructed, and Kojo sat by the bathroom door. The minutes she had to wait for Tim felt like an eternity. She sat on the couch opposite the door, extremely nervous, staring at the door until it finally opened.

"Hey, Kojo, what are you doing here?" Tim asked the dog, about to shoo him away when he saw the plastic on his collar. He frowned, crouched next to the dog, and took the test off. He stared at the display for a moment before standing up and looking at Lucy.

"Are you...?" he began, walking over to the couch in a few strides and sitting down next to her. Tears streamed down her cheeks as she looked at him and nodded. He immediately hugged her and held her gently. Then he released her and looked at her. He had tears in his eyes too, but they were clearly tears of joy, which lifted a huge weight off Lucy's shoulders.

"I...," he started, "don't know what to say. I never imagined it like this, but I always wanted kids and a family. And ever since I fell for you, I somehow felt that you were the one for me. I'm so happy with you, even though you caught me off guard."

"I didn't know either. I always took my pill, it must have been the medication in the hospital. But Angela was with me today and gave me the idea because of the symptoms. She got me the test and was there with me. I'm very grateful to her; I would have been overwhelmed alone," Lucy explained the situation. "I always wanted kids too, and I wanted them with you. But what about Grey? And the job?" she voiced her concerns.

"I'll talk to him tomorrow. I'll handle it. He knows what family means, and we'll find a solution. I promise. You and this little one inside you are my family now, and I'll do everything. But..." he trailed off, thinking for a moment. "I know what I'll do. I'll take care of it tomorrow, and Grey will understand. I want you to come with me, though, in case he wants to talk to you about the pregnancy or something," he continued, and Lucy could see he was thinking about something else too.

"I imagined it all so differently," Lucy said, another tear rolling down her cheek.

"So did I, Lucy. But there's never a perfect moment. That's just how it is, and in the end, you wait your whole life for the moment, and it never comes," Tim remarked. "I'm sure about you and want you and this baby, even if it's the biggest surprise of my life. I'm overjoyed," he continued, looking at Lucy lovingly. "But now you need to eat something, anything, I'll cook it for you."

"I think I'll feel sick if I see food," she noted. "Even though I need to eat, I don't know if it'll stay down for more than five minutes. But I'm still hungry."

"Okay, I'll make something," he smiled and got to work.

Lucy managed to eat a few bites without immediately throwing up, and Tim grinned at her the whole time they ate.

After dinner, they lay on the couch, and Tim held Lucy lovingly until she fell asleep. He turned down the TV volume and carefully took out his phone. He needed to text Angela again; he would need her tomorrow too. She had to do something for him to ensure everything went as planned when he talked to Grey. He knew he could rely on Angela, and she immediately confirmed she would help and found his idea amazing after he explained it to her.

As it got late, he gently lifted Lucy under her knees to carry her to bed. He laid her down carefully so as not to wake her before undressing and lying down next to her. There she was, his dream woman and soon-to-be the mother of his child. He still couldn't believe that he suddenly had everything he had always wanted in his personal life.
