After what felt like a thousand photos at the lake, naturally also with each of the guests, they could finally move on to the celebration. Most of their guests had already gathered and were sitting at their tables. They ate and drank until Tim stood up and stepped onto the open space designated as the dance floor for the evening. Slowly, all the guests turned to him and waited eagerly to hear what he would say.

"Hello, would you listen for a moment?" he began, looking around until everyone had turned to him and paused their conversations. "Lucy, I want to give you the perfect wedding, with everything that goes with it. And even if some may not expect this from me, I would like to ask my wonderful wife for our wedding dance." He looked lovingly at Lucy and held out his hand to her. She blushed slightly and looked at him in surprise. She didn't know he could dance, but she had always wished for a dance at her wedding. She took his hand and stood up to follow Tim onto the dance floor.

Given that they were getting married in one of the more upscale locations, there was naturally also a grand piano, where a lady in an elegant dress had now taken her seat. In front of her stood a man with a microphone, also waiting. Tim gently spun Lucy around before pulling her close, her hand in his and his hand on her waist. Then he nodded to the two musicians, and the lady began to play the piano. The singer didn’t even need to start singing; Lucy already knew which song Tim had chosen. He had picked "All of Me" by John Legend. She loved this song and also that they both saw themselves in it. They had both rough edges that often drove them to despair, especially at work, but it was precisely these imperfect traits that they loved about each other.

Tim skillfully and elegantly led Lucy across the dance floor, looking lovingly into her eyes the entire time. She smiled at him, her eyes shining with happiness and joy. They never wanted to lose each other again.

When the song ended, everyone applauded, and some guests had tears in their eyes once more. Lucy and Tim thanked the musicians and invited the other guests to join them on the dance floor. A sound system was now turned on, and pop and dance music filled the hall.

The dance floor immediately filled with guests, creating a lively atmosphere.

"Hey Tim," Angela called, "How about it?" She held out her hand, inviting him to dance. He laughed, and before he could agree, Lucy gave him a gentle push.

"Then I can surely ask you for a dance," John said to Lucy.

"Of course," she smiled and let herself be led onto the dance floor.

"Congratulations, Lucy. You’ve made a great catch. I’m sure Tim will always look out for you. And yes, I know you can handle things on your own, but we all need help sometimes, and I think Tim will be able to provide that. You two really fit well together, even though you hated him at first for his tests," he laughed.

"Oh yes, those tests were terrible. I’ll never forget how I had to find his bomb in the park and then spent 30 minutes in the shower to look human again. But he did it to make me better, and that was important for me. He knew what I needed, and that impressed me," she shared.

"Yes, I remember that. It was really funny how you both came back to the station," John laughed.

A few steps away, Angela and Tim were also reminiscing.

"Tim, I never thought she’d be your rookie, but I can’t blame you. She’s an incredible woman who is very similar to you in many ways, even if you’d never admit it," Angela laughed, and Tim just shook his head.

"I don’t know. I once had principles, but Lucy made me throw them overboard. She’s just amazing. What she did for me, even before there was anything more, I had never experienced that. She’s such a special woman," Tim gushed.

"You can see it. You really love her, and I don’t want to brag, but I knew long ago that there was something between you two. The way you always joked, your looks. How you wanted to protect her as soon as things got dangerous on the job. She had been more than just your rookie or colleague for a long time," Angela observed, and Tim looked at her in surprise.

"Are you telling me that you, with your super sensors, knew something before we did?" he asked.

"Uh, yes. Exactly. You two are stubborn. You always acted like it was professional, just the job. You just didn’t admit it to yourselves because it was unimaginable for both of you," she continued, and Tim thought about it. She was right. He had felt more for her early on and wanted to protect her. But he wasn’t allowed to, so he tried to suppress it.

After both Tim and Lucy had danced and talked with several other guests, they sat down together at their table again. It was already late, and some guests had already gone home, but it had been a wonderful celebration that they would probably never forget.
