The next day, both of them were incredibly nervous, and Lucy asked Tim five times if he was sure he knew what he was doing. Each time, he nodded and reassured her that he was 100% sure about her and how he would inform Grey.

At the station, Lucy went to Angela, who greeted her with a friendly smile.

"Hey Lucy, are you staying with me again today?" she asked, and Lucy nodded.

"We'll see, if I'm not fired soon. Tim is with Grey, he's going to tell him," she explained, and Angela feigned surprise.

"Trust him, he's known Grey long enough to find the right words. Everything will be fine, I'm sure of it," she smiled and handed Lucy some documents to work on. But Lucy couldn't concentrate; her thoughts were with Tim and the conversation he was having.

After what felt like an eternity, she saw Tim and Grey shaking hands and both smiling. Then Grey, followed by Tim, came out of the office.

Lucy hadn't noticed that Angela had disappeared, but suddenly she heard the radios going off. Everyone in the station was asked to come immediately. What was happening now? Grey and Tim didn't look like it was an emergency.

Lucy stood up and positioned herself at the bottom of the stairs where Grey was standing, waiting until everyone was present.

"Hello colleagues, thank you for coming so quickly and pausing your work for a moment. I have something to announce, or rather, Sergeant Bradford has something to say."

Lucy looked around, searching for Tim among the others. She saw him as Angela handed him something before he walked through the crowd to her. A small circle had formed around them, with her and Tim in the center. She didn't know what was happening, but she felt overwhelmed with everyone staring at them.

"Thank you, Grey," Tim nodded briefly at Grey before looking at Lucy, "Lucy, I know this is all a lot and confusing, even for an incredible woman like you. When we started working together, I honestly thought you would just annoy me with your way of wanting to explain and understand everything. I wanted to assign you to reception more than once. But I didn't, because I saw how much the job and your colleagues mean to you and how strong your sense of justice is, that you would even risk your life for it. In a way that not everyone would." While Tim spoke, you could hear a pin drop; everyone was listening intently, even though many didn't know what was happening or why Bradford and Chen were in the center of attention.

"When we were undercover, I would have died for you; I would have endured any pain just to protect you and give you a chance at life. That's when I realized there was more to you than just Officer Chen. That you are the most incredible and impressive person I've ever met. I will never forget that you saved my life. Lucy, over the past few weeks, I've realized that you are my rock, my anchor, and the person I want to trust and spend the rest of my life with. With you and our child, as a family. You are everything I've ever wanted and will ever want in life. You mean everything to me, and I want to be there for you and protect you from now until the end of my life," he continued, while some colleagues stood open-mouthed, and others were moved to tears, watching the scene unfold.

Tim took a deep breath before kneeling in front of Lucy, pulling a small box from his pocket and opening it. Smiling, he looked up at her and held out the ring. She was speechless, tears of joy streaming down her face, unable to move, captivated by Tim's words and his kneeling before her.

"Lucy Chen, will you marry me and be my wife?" he asked, looking deeply into her eyes.

Lucy immediately nodded and smiled with overwhelming joy, despite the tears on her face. She didn't care; in that moment, she was the happiest person on the planet.

"Yes, Tim, yes, of course I will," she exclaimed with joy, and everyone around them cheered and clapped loudly as Tim slipped the engagement ring on her finger and embraced her, giving her a long kiss to express all his love. As he pulled away, he gently wiped her tears and looked at her lovingly.

"Congratulations to you both," Grey called from the stairs, smiling at them.

They could barely keep up with everyone wanting to congratulate and hug them; no one had known there was anything between them until now, and everyone came at once.

After what felt like forever, things calmed down a bit, and Tim pointed to Grey's office again.

"Lucy, we need to see him again, it's about how you'll be working in the near future," Tim explained.

"Congratulations to both of you," Grey said, still smiling, as they entered his office and Tim closed the door.

"I don't know what Tim told you, but I'm glad he did," Lucy admitted with a smile.

"Chen, I've known Bradford for a long time, he's one of the best officers—sorry, Sergeants—I've ever known. That's why I trust you both to handle this. However, I can't ignore that he's your superior. This will cause talk among the others if something goes wrong or isn't 100% correct. Given your pregnancy, I strongly recommend spending most of your time here. The dangers on the street are unpredictable, as you know. I'll talk to Lopez later; you seem to have done good work with her, maybe we can place you there. Then you'll work alongside each other instead of how it's been," Grey suggested.

Lucy didn't want to sit in the office, but she had to admit that Grey was right. The street was unpredictable, and she now had to take care of more than just herself. She would never forgive herself if something happened to the baby because she sought action.

"I think you're right, sir, I'd appreciate it if you could arrange a spot with Lopez," she replied.

"Alright, I'll take care of it and get back to you. Enjoy the day, I already told Bradford, you both have today off, your engagement needs to be celebrated," he laughed, and Lucy looked at Tim in surprise.

"Thank you, sir," Lucy replied before leaving Grey's office with Tim.

They wanted to quickly leave the busy station, but they ran into Smitty.

"Oh Officer, I didn't know you were into such young ladies. But as a trainer, you can teach in other areas too, with apparent success," he winked at Tim, whose expression immediately darkened.

"Smitty, first, I'm Sergeant Bradford to you, not Officer. Second, if you ever say anything derogatory about me or worse, my fiancée, or even think it, believe me, you'll find yourself working harder than you ever wanted. I hope we understand each other and this was a one-time slip," Tim stood close to Smitty, fixing him with a hard stare, leaving no doubt that he was not amused by his comment.

"Sorry, thought you still had a sense of humor," Smitty muttered before scurrying off. Tim put his arm around Lucy and they walked out; he didn't need another comment like that today. He knew Lucy was much younger than him and that he had been her trainer. But what did it matter to the others? Nothing.
