Summer was always your least favorite season. Especially when the weather was so hot you'd either melt to a puddle or burn to a crisp. Right now you felt like melting. Why was it today, a day with karate practice, that it'd be the hottest of the week?
You didn't even have air conditioning! Everything was outside, and everyone was huddling underneath the only tree in the backyard.
"It's so hot out." Demetri leaned his head on Sam. "I'm sweating in places I didn't even know I had pores." He wiped his face on Sam's arm. She was disgusted and wiped it back on his shirt.
"Give me the water." You grab Robby's water bottle, or tried to.
"Y/N, you've brought yourself that big jug and you finished all of it. No." Robby glared, and you scoff.
"One sip!" You plead. Robby sighed and gave you the bottle.
Now, if it was anyone else, you'd take a big gulp of their water. But it was Robby, you just couldn't. You took half a usual gulp before passing it back to him.
"All right, guys. Get out from under that tree. It's time to get to work," Daniel spoke. Everyone groaned and stood up tiredly.
"Hey, Mr. LaRusso, it's like 100 degrees out. Can't we take it easy today?" Robby requested.
"Are you kidding? This heat wave is a gift," Daniel spoke. Everyone was immediately stunned by his words. "Today, you are going to experience Shocu-Geiko." He announced.
"Like the car insurance?" Chris asked, receiving disbelieved looks.
"Shochu-Geiko is a Japanese exercise where you train during the hottest days of the year." Daniel explained. "It's about pushing yourself to your limit. The fight isn't always gonna come when it's 75 degrees and breezy."
"Aren't we supposed to avoid fighting?" Sam quipped.
"Sometimes you can't. Someday, the fight may come to you. And I wanna make sure you're ready. So, today, we're gonna see what Miyagi-Do is made of." He declared, officially starting the practice.
First thing he did was gather everyone to the front where the cars were parked. He made everyone circle up, and assigned them random numbers, then instructed Robby to stay in the middle and "be prepared to fight". Your Greenie was in a fighting stance and trying to anticipate any attack.
"Two!" Daniel called out. The trick was nobody knew which number was whose.
A guy (which you needed to learn the name of) was Two, and got his punch blocked. Robby put his leg behind Two and pushed him down. Robby won, and still had good sportsmanship with Two as he went back to the circle.
