Clearly, Demetri had been through the most general Miyagi-Do experience any other student had went through. Only difference is that he was particularly more slower with learning the moves, and you could see him looking absolutely miserable as he walked into the dojo today.
You were doing kata and enjoying the whole nature scape of the backyard as Robby and Sam were practicing the wheel technique. Kata helped you focus much better, and you did it first before doing any other genuine practice-hence why Sam and Robby were in the koi pond first.
"Uh...are we doing shirts versus skins? 'Cause I prefer to be a shirt....not saying that you have to be a skin. Unless you want to!" You could hear Demetri call out, making you lose your focus at the abrupt voice. You could see how Sam and Robby awkwardly nod with a friendly smile at his rambling.
"Hello, Demetri," you greet the overly anxious boy.
"Hi, Y/N, are you a shirt?" Demetri pointed out at your thin t-shirt you chose to wear for practice. Your clothes were all dirty, and you had yet to find the energy to actually wash it. Your dad would've, but he'd been gone for work for much more time periods than usual.
You shrug and glance at your shirt, and before you could utter out a word, Daniel called out Demetri to go over to him near the fence.
"He's...quite chatty." Sam commented, still unused to those kind of people.
"He's probably nervously awkward. Imagine going into karate, and you barely know anyone-besides Y/N." Robby assumed.
"We should make him feel more comfortable with us, so then he'll feel more comfortable overall and probably be more at ease. That'll help especially if he's learning Miyagi-Do," you suggested.
"Like what?" Sam asked. "I can drive us all there, do you know about anything he likes?"
You shook your head. "Not really, but he probably enjoys the nerdy niche stuff. Like comics, or some sorta sci-fi media," you guessed. "He looks like he's that kinda person."
"The mall?" Robby came up with an idea. "I've seen there's a comic store around."
"None of us read comics." Sam brings up.
"Right..." you nod. "I don't know, but you two are definitely not going to be friends with him only out of pity, try and get to know him, because he'll definitely be in Miyagi-Do for a while."
"He seems fairly nice," Sam nods. "I'll go invite all of us out to the mall once practice is over."
"That sounds good, we do have to get along eventually as a team anyway," you said. You took a deep breath in once knowing that idea was just a matter of actually doing, so you continued your kata. You'd wait until Sam and Robby offer to switch with you and either of them on the wheel.
