Miles Godfrey is a brother figure you didn't think you'd need in your life. You resented him, though, for having your mom as a major figure in his life when you couldn't. At first, you were awkward adjusting to the changes, obviously. The way your father acted with them made you feel like you were really alone. They felt so natural, so complete. And then there was you, who felt like a new child.

Your father made sure you were included in everything. He treated you like normal, thankfully. He only had two weeks before your mother was left with the house and he had to go back to piloting. And this time he'd be back home again and again, because he had no more reasons to be lying to you on why he'd be gone for a while.

But the lies seemed to be for a good cause, so you could find yourself easily forgiving him.

Your mother was a kinder woman than you thought. You found some of her traits to be eerily similar with you. She easily joked, carefree, had a sense of fashion. You would wonder why she'd even run away years ago if she could naturally be with your dad and make it look so fitting. You were still getting used to seeing her. You were disappointed she had been gone for many years of your life.

But she was back after a horrible relationship due to blackmail (where she became Miles' legal guardian), and had no plans to leave anytime soon.

Miles thought you were a badass after hearing your karate drama. He was really kind to you, and made sure you felt welcomed and comfortable. You couldn't find yourself being angry with him and the fact he had been living with your mother and called her his own. Miles took up a spare room in the house and decorated it with 70s bands posters, vinyls, and plants-he had a thing for gardening...and is awfully sporty.

The two weeks of trying to bond was coming to an end, Miles would be enrolling into West Valley High school with you. You felt content with how you were with Miles, as you two felt like friends already. Your mother helped pick out you and Miles' outfits. Now you were in the car ride as your mom drove to school, on Google Maps.

"Are you guys ready for school?" Your mother asked, to try and ease the tension.

"Nervous." Miles replied. "People are so judgey." He glanced at his backpack and fiddled with its straps.

"Exactly." You nod. "And with the fight I had...I don't know if people are gonna like me anymore."

"You fought to protect yourself and your friend, Sam. That's a lot of honor to be able to say that," your mother assured. "The main focus now is making sure that Miguel guy is wakes up and your Robby boy will come back safely."

They both knew the Robby lore, and the mother and son knew well enough you had a crush on him, even if you didn't know it. They don't mention it, because they figure it's better to find things out yourself.
