After she left my room, I immediately moved to the place she had just left. I traced my fingers over the bookshelf and sighed as I saw the book still on its place. Perhaps she only wanted to find some things about me.
Idiota
I shook my head and grabbed my phone, taking a deep breath and thinking about the text I received an hour ago.
Today, noon.
Brief, yet I already understood the concept without thinking too much about it. After my mother had died, my father remarried very quickly and he had a daughter. The girl - who's name was Isabella - was five years old, however considering he has my father as a parent she was very shy and introverted around people.
I had met her when she was younger and she really grew fond of me and she really was very mature for her age especially when my father was around. Because she couldn't be an heir to the Mafia, he kept her only because he felt like she could be useful someday.
At least he had that much affection.
Today, after out call yesterday, he said that he was going to sent her here for sometime because he had to do some business. At first I wasn't thrilled, I wasn't a damn babysitter and even so, I couldn't take care of someone. She might liked me but I knew she shouldn't trust someone like me.
Sat on the couch, I crossed one leg on top of the other and sighed, taking a sip of my vodka. I would rather be on high alert when the child walked in but then again if I was, I was afraid I might be too cold and I didn't want to scare her.
"Please Alessandro, I beg of you..I know it's not your responsibility but I need to know that you will keep her safe in case of something happening to me."
I looked away
"I can't take care of a child"
I replied, not even bothering to look at the baby girl in her arms, the baby was surprisingly calm and she just chewed on her thumb, her eyes glued to me
"I know..but please..your father will make her a weapon you know this, you know what he did to your mother-"
"Don't."
I snapped, cutting her off
"Never speak of her name"
Lissa sighed
"I am sorry, but I only meant to make you understand the importance of the situation. I am not asking for you to raise her but at least keep an eye on her.. please Alessandro, have some mercy."
