I opened the door to the passengers' seat and allowed her to step inside the car.
After she sat down, I closed the door and went around to the driver's seat, entering the car as well and starting the engine, while stealing a glance at her.
She was beaming, I guess seeing her family again was important for her.
"You had fun?" I asked, a smile tugging on my lips as I took in her expression.
She turned to me and nodded, the smile evident of her beautiful lips
"Yes, I missed you parents and being back to my house again..well I can't help but feel a little nostalgic."
She paused and quickly added
"Not that you make me uncomfortable or anything, but there is a different definition of love between you and my family."
I nodded, mimicking her earlier expression.
I had learnt what her parents wanted to hear to trust me. Sure, they wanted to know her daughter was safe and happy whilst in another man's house but they were also pleased to hear compliments and discuss business.
And yet, they seemed relaxed when she announced that we were officially dating. Surprised, but relaxed whatsoever.
The estate was about thirty minutes by car and the sky was already ink black and stars were shining in the sky.
Glancing at the car's clock it was about 22:30 which meant that the dinner took longer of our time than expected.
Emilia on the meanwhile, while seemingly tired, kept texting on her phone.
"Who are you texting?"
I asked, my eyes on the road but also looking at her for a second
She shrugged and stopped texting for a moment to reply
"My friends, they said we might go to the mall tomorrow. It's a Saturday and we are free so we could go shopping."
She stated
"Alright, make sure to be careful when you go there alright? Already too many people know about us from Enzo so they might target you."
When I noticed her slightly panicked expression, I continued
"I am not telling you this to scare you, it is unlikely that they will strike you if you are with people. Just don't be alone"
I couldn't see her because I was focusing ahead since this specific road to the estate was really dark and I had to make sure I didn't kill any hiker, not that anyone would be out this time of day.
And not that I would give a shit if I ran over someone but if Emilia was with me she wouldn't let me hear the end of it.
