Time passes quickly. One day, we were all scared to our core for Issabella and the next, she was with us in the house. She didn't seem to remember - almost - nothing other than the fact that they had gotten her outside of the estate.

Unfortunately, news travel fast as well.

"What do you mean he will be working here?" I asked Alessandro curiously with a small pout.

I didn't know exactly what had gotten in Alessandro, but he was way more relaxed, I could even detect a hint of a smile in his features.

"I mean that he will be working on the explosion case along with your father and me." He said as he cut a piece of the omelette and stabbed it with his fork.

It was one of the ultra rare moments that me and Alessandro sat together and had breakfast. Sure, when all of this mess started Alessandro was practically a ghost. One that I would talk through Enzo and see only if I disobeyed him.

By 'disobeying' I mean when I snuck out of my room to go to the library of his chambers. I was, admittedly, a book nerd. Was I shy about it? No.

Books were my way to cope. To be able to enter a new word so that I could escape the real one. I mean, better that than taking drugs, right?

Anyway, with Enzo's help - which on his part ended with Alessandro making him have twice the practice he had- I sat there in the evenings and read. I still remember what Enzo told me consistently. 'What are you reading about? History and Maths? You seem more like a Biology person'.

I laughed then, because he was so unserious in these kind of situations.

I glanced down at my pancakes and took a bite

Alessandro's father, whom I only spoke to twice one in the wedding and once when we bumped eachother in the hallway. I simply said a 'sorry' and he smiled and left. That might as well be a good reason as to why Alessandro was cheerful as well as Issa being safe, at least... as much as an Alessandro could truly be.

"So that means Liam will be here frequently?" I asked again, unsure of whether or not he was concerned about him at all.

He shrugged "You would assume so, yes. He won't be staying here per se, but he will be here frequently so that he could work. I don't trust him-"

He said answering the unspoken question wondering between us

"- but I have to acknowledge that he saved my sister. He asked for something rather small in return so I will have to agree."

I began to argue and explain that it was his future Mafia not mine and I just wanted to remind him when he cut me off.

"But" he said, a hint of a smile in his face "We won't need to be concerned about that." He tore his gaze from his breakfast and to me.
