Delta's POV

I went into work the next day with not one bone of excitement in my body. Work became work. I figured I better get used to it now. With my friends gone and no one to talk to about it after, I just had a boring, normal job.

I saw Will walk in and I managed to give him a slight smile. I brought him over a water. "How ya doin' today, Will?"

"Pretty good. Yourself?"

I smiled slightly. "I've been better. But it's alright. Makin' some money. Saving up. The usual."

He laughed. "How's Dallas?"

I sighed. He did always ask about him. I don't know why I expected anything different. "He's alright. I dunno. We aren't together anymore."

"Oh, I'm sorry. That explains the mood."

"It's not just that. Jess and Aubrey left for college, so I'm just feelin' a little down."

"I'm real sorry, Delta. Maybe I could take you out? Might cheer ya up a bit." He said with a grin.

"I'm sorry, Will. Maybe some other time. We just broke up. I'm trying to process it."

"I totally get it. I'll just do my usual."

"You got it."

Will always seemed to have a smile on his face. I wasn't really attracted to him, looks wise. But he seemed nice. Maybe he would be an option later on.

But I couldn't think about that right now. I still wanted Dallas and I needed to let him go before I get with someone else.

I worked the next day and then I had a day off. Not much was happening anymore. I decided to head over to the Curtis' house. Maybe someone there can make me smile.

Dallas' POV

Nobody was up for a night out; so I just went by myself. I needed a drink.

I ended up at the Dingo and, with my luck, Sylvia was there.

I tried to avoid her, but she seemed to always find a way in. "Hey, Dallas." She said leaning against the high top.

"What do ya want?" I asked plainly. I was already three drinks in. I wasn't having her bullshit.

"Just wondering what you've been up to. Where's your girlfriend at?"

"I dunno. We aren't together anymore."

I took a sip of my drink.

She grinned slightly. "Oh, what a shame."

"Do you need something?" I asked.

"Yeah. I wanna give us another go. And now that you're on the market, I don't see a better time than now. Wanna head back to my place?"

"Bold today, aren't ya."

"Please. I've been waiting for this for almost a year now. I messed up, Dally. I did. But I'm here to make that right. Fix us. What we had."

She walked a bit closer to me. "I don't think so." I said angrily.

"What? You're still hooked up on her?"

"No. But I don't want anything with you."

She was inches away from me at this point. She has this evil look on her face. "Let me prove it to you that I've changed. We'll be better than we ever were before."

Delta's POV

I walked inside and saw everyone sitting there except Dallas.

"Hey, everyone."

"Hey, Delta. How ya feelin'?" Sodapop asked.

"I'm alright. Things are gonna look up for me. I can just feel it." I said sitting next to Two-Bit.

"Hey, everyone." I heard someone call through the back door.

Why is that every time I show up, he has the same idea?

But to my surprise, it wasn't just him.

"Y'all know Sylvia."

I felt my heart drop.

"Hi, guys. Good to be back." She looked at me for a brief moment, but I had no words.

"We're gonna head to the drive-in tonight. Anyone wanna come?"

"Sure, I'll go, Dallas." Ponyboy said.

"Me, too." Johnny followed.

Every bit of conversation after that was a blur.

I couldn't believe it.

He was back with Sylvia?

Days after we broke up!

"Delta, Steve and I are headin' over to a drag race tonight. Wanna come?" He asked sitting next to me, only loud enough for me to hear.

"Uhh... yeah... sure... I'll go." I muttered.

"Why don't you come out back with me?" He asked standing up.

"Yeah... sure... okay..."

We walked outside and he closed the door behind us. "I'm sorry, Delta. He's being an asshole."

"How has he already moved on?" I whispered.

"We know Dallas. He's not good with feelings. I'm sure it won't last long anyway."

"It doesn't even matter. I don't even know why I'm upset. I have no reason to be."

"Look, I know it sucks-"

He was cut off by the sound of the door opening. We looked to our right and none other than Dallas Winston himself was walking towards us.

"Hey, just checkin', we're good right?" He asked me. Like we were old friends or something.

"Yeah. I'm fine." I said with a small smile.

"Okay. You know, I was just makin' sure." He said takin' a drag on his cigarette. "I don't want any problems between you and Sylvia. But it was for the best."

I knew he was trying to get to me. Mocking me, even. But I wasn't going to show it. "I'm fine." I repeated.

"Alright. I know it sucks, but maybe taking some time would be best for you."

I snapped. "I don't think so. I'm seeing someone else." I blurted out.

"You are?" Dallas asked.

"You are?" Sodapop asked.

"Yeah. I wasn't gonna say anything, because it's so new, but I've moved on. I think I'll be alright." I said.

He looked at me for a minute before heading inside.

Sodapop looked back at me. "That was... fast..." He muttered.

"Yeah... I know."

"Who is it?" He asked.

"I... don't know..."
