"Shorty, if you wanna bang just say that."

Alexa Sinclair

"Is she ready?" I whispered, stretching my arms out. I already want to hold her again.

I got to right after she came out of me, then Tom had to hold her while I delivered the placenta.

And now they were cleaning her off in this portable bath thing one of the nurses brought in. I really wanted some one on one time.

Well, I guess two on one.

Me, Tom, and the baby.

I told our family, and even though my dad was excited he agreed and said he'd come in a couple hours when I was ready.

"Almost done." Tom smiled, from across the room, and I frowned.

I can't move a gosh dang muscle.

"This is how you swaddle." The nurse said, with a thick Russian accent.

His hands were behind his back, carefully watching how she did it.

She moved to let him try doing it.

"Tighter." She advised.

He looked like he wanted to cry.

"Good?" Tom gave her a thumbs up.

She mumbled something ineligible, fixing what he'd done. Tom flipped her off by his thigh, making me softly giggle.

She handed her to him, my heart rate quickening as he brought her over.

Tom put down the railing, sitting on the edge.

I cooed happily, as he gave her to me.

I know the baby blindness thing, and how some parents' babies look like aliens.

But she was perfect.

She was the perfect mix of the both of us.

A cute button nose, with a similar slope to how Tom's was set, light blue eyes and blonde hair that was just a smidge darker than mine.

Her eyelashes were so long, and they said she weighed six pounds and nine ounces.

Her lips were a rosy color, and her eyes were also a little more slender like her dad's.

"I'll give you privacy to feed." The nurse took her leave, oh gosh.

"Tom, take out my tit." I sniffled.

He undid the draw strings of my gown, revealing the top half of my chest.

"Also, help me take her out of the swaddle. I need skin to skin, I heard that's good." I swiped my thumb carefully against her forehead.

"Then why did we swaddle her in the first place?" He laughed.

I glared at him.

"Okay, okay." Tom cleared his throat, gently undoing it. I held Melody against my chest, hoping she would learn to latch on quickly.
