When Kinoko opened her eyes, she realized she must've fallen asleep for an hour or so. Wanderer was already outside the tent, cooking something over a fire.
She yawned and knelt beside it. He held out a chicken-mushroom skewer to her.
"No thanks." She said sleepily. She wasn't in the mood for getting poisoned.
"Just eat it. I don't want you complaining all through the desert, nor passing out." Wanderer said, his eyes narrowing on her.
Kinoko opened up the pouch strapped to her belt and pulled out 5 sunsettias. "These are enough for me."
He raised an eyebrow. "Suit yourself, but how did you pull out so much from a small pouch?"
She shrugged. "Found with it. It probably fits so much from an alchemical potion."
"So...what secrets do you have in it?" He asked, a smirk growing on his face.
"No secrets." She replied, taking a bite out of a sunsettia.
He rolled his eyes. "Boring." He started eating the chicken mushroom skewers, and once he was done, he stood up. "Let's go. The Temir Mountains are still far away, and we'll most likely have to pull an all-nighter to get back."
Kinoko yawned and packed up her things, all of which went into her pouch, then she left the tent, looking ahead towards the path. "We have to pass those big eremite camps on our way forward." She commented, shuddering slightly by watching from a distance.
"Easy work. We'll be fine." Wanderer said, and before she knew it, he was walking straight towards the camps. She blinked and he was already attacking with swift wind blades. He floated in the air as he attacked, giving him a high advantage.
"I wanna fly..." Kinoko murmured to herself, then used her own vision to turn herself invisible. As she ran past them, they were distracted by the small shards tracing behind her, which then attacked them. She then let Wanderer use their distraction to attack once again. Once the enemies were defeated, they continued their walk. Adrenaline coursed through Kinoko's veins from the thrill of battle-and watching Wanderer.
"You know, I didn't need your help." He finally spoke, crossing his arms as they started to see the tall rock walls of the desert up ahead.
She rolled her eyes. "Okay, but I made it go faster, didn't I?" She smiled, feeling a small sense of pride in her.
"..." Wanderer didn't reply, only sighing quietly. They reached the tall desert walls after a while, and Kinoko was already rummaging through things in her pouch to look for something that could help them climb. He flew upwards, holding his hand out to her again. "Come on."
She groaned. "I hate this." She took his arms and hung on with both of hers as he flew them both upward.
"I know. That's why it's so fun to watch." He said. She wished she could wipe that stupid smirk off his face, but she still was questioning if he actually didn't have motives to kill her.
Now they were fully in the desert, declining down the rocks to move towards the path. The large Sumeru sandstorm was visible in the distance. "You said you were found with the pouch. Found?" Wanderer asked, walking so fast Kinoko had to jog to catch up.
"Yeah. Found. I woke up near the Avidya Forest, then passed out. A forest ranger found me and took me to Gandharva Ville." Her muscles tensed, and the distant wind from the sandstorm was drying her eyes.
He raised an eyebrow. "Do you know why you just woke up like that?"
"No...I lost my memories." She stepped away from him, shifting uncomfortably.
