Chapter 25: ARE WE STILL FRIENDS?

Yuji and sukuna continued bickering for a couple more minutes before choso wrapped his arm around both of their necks , "okay dumb and dumber let's get some food before Yuji becomes whiny" . Yuji huffed and squirmed out of choso's grasp to run around and throw his arms around you , "I'm staying with y/n she's the only nice one here" . You patted yuji's arms that were around your neck . "Okay let's race guys" he said evilly , "I'm wearing high heels and a maxi skirt Yuji this isn't fair" . He grinned before picking you up bridal style and running towards the door . "YOURE A FUCKIN CHEAT YUJI" sukuna shouted out before running , choso sighed at the immaturity and quickly ran after the three of you.

Yuji felt bad for technically cheating so he allowed sukuna to sit in the front . Sukuna happily sat in the front seat whilst you and Yuji sat in the back leaning on each other . It had become normal in your friendship with Yuji for him just to pick you up or carry you places , it didn't matter how tall you had gotten or how much weight you lost or gained. Yuji would always give you piggyback rides , he would always pick you up and spin you around when he was happy/had missed you. It had just been common for you to either always be by his side or in his arms . Your family had joked that you and Yuji were actually twins , you two were attached at the hip since being literal babies . Even when you were young he'd carry you places . He just never thought to stop and you'd never think to stop him. Plus it was nice not to have sore feet from walking in heels.

Your head rested against yuji's toned bicep , his head rested on top of yours . The hum of the song that sukuna played , since he was on aux , slowly began to drown out . The bumps of the car - it all brought you back to a fond memory of a road trip you had all taken when you were no more than 13 years old.

13 years old , you , Yuji , sukuna , choso who was 14 , and their parents were all on a road trip in their RV. This was in summer . In the summer you were always either with the three boys at your house , at their house , at the beach or at your treehouse that you had built and claimed in the woods. However , both of your parents would always take you four on holidays during the summer, like any normal family . Since you were neighbours and ever so close it would usually be a coin flip to see which parents would take which kids .

In the RV , Mr and Mrs Kamo sat in the front . Yuji's mother - maiden name Itadori - took her husbands name so now it was , Yuji Kamo , sukuna Kamo and choso Kamo . You sat on the small two seater couch next to Yuji , your head rested on his arm whilst his rested on top of yours . Sukuna sat in the loft area whilst playing on bus DS . He was playing nintendogs- if you ever asked him what his favourite DS game was he would say one of the Mario games but In actuality it's Nintendogs . Then choso was sitting in the single seat with the table , he observed you and Yuji . Making sure you two weren't up to any trouble like usual. But no , you two were oddly quiet . Serene almost .

Yuji broke the silence , silence to you two - but Mr and Mrs Kamo were having their own conversation in the front and the music was playing at a decent volume . "Do you think we'll be friends forever" he said in an almost whisper . Which was completely out of the character for the usually loud Yuji . You nestled your head closer to him , you racked your brain for a response to such an intense question to come out of a bubbly 13 year old yuji's mouth . You threaded your eyebrows together , "why would you ask that?" . "I've just been thinkin' I see you everyday 'nd we talk everyday 'nd I like spending time with you- y-you're my best friend 'nd everythin' but what if we're not one day?" He explained himself with his lip wobbling , trying not to cry.You remembered this moment being so eye opening . You were enjoying the peace and you were quite happy how you were . But Yuji wasn't happy and you didn't know till he voiced his concerns . That was the first time you had completely misread a situation.

"Yu- we will be best friends forever I told you. We'll live on the beach and we'll go surfing and play beach volleyball 'nd we'll open an ice cream shop." You said now hugging his arm to show that you're there for him. He sniffled , "thanks bunny . I've just been thinkin' like a lot recently which is weird . 'Nd like I'm really scared for the future like high school what if we have complete different schedules and I can't see you- or what if we aren't in any lessons together?" He said his voice trembling . Choso being the usual older brother he is , interjected . "Yuji , even if you two have different schedules you both purposely lap the school hallways with each other . You walk into school and out of school together. Plus we always get dropped off and picked up together anyways. Even further , we are neighbours THERES never a moment where we don't see each other. To add you and y/n are attached at the hip I doubt she would want to leave you anytime soon. She will always be here for you, I promise..little brother " .

Choso always made things super rational . He had things well thought out , choso was always thinking . That's why he always looks like he's daydreaming - he is sometimes but a lot of the time he's planning out things . He was always so well prepared and smart - he just KNEW what to say and when to say it . He was perfect at comforting people in an efficient and easy manner. You really admired choso , he was so cool despite only being a year older - he seemed so much more mature . Probably because he was. He was always taking care of everything and everyone . He even adopted you into that habit since you and Yuji were so close . Yuji was special to you and so was sukuna and so was choso .

You often wondered if you were ever special to them. Now that you're older you especially wonder if choso still thinks you're special to him.
