It was late morning in Iowa city, the sun shining through all the windows in the practice building and there stood outside of it was Kate; she took a moment before she went for her first practice of the year and she shook off all her nervousness and opened the door stepping inside.
"Kate!" A yell was heard from behind Kate when she set down her stuff in her now new locker cubby that had her name and number of a little sign on the top of it, Caitlin ran towards the girl and jumped on her before Kate tried to keep herself from stumbling backwards.
"Hi to you too!" Kate said sarcastically before Caitlin pulled away from the hug and rolling her eyes at Kate.
"I haven't heard from you in a while, you ok?" Caitlin asked before Kate looked down and gulped nervously.
"Yeah, I just... needed sometime." Kate said looking up at Caitlin, she could tell something else was up with Kate but decided to not push the subject.
"Oh ok! You ready for your first practice as a Hawkeye?" Caitlin said nugging Kate's arm as she was smiling.
"Excited but nervous." Kate said sitting down to put on her basketball shoes on.
"Don't be nervous! Coach Bluder is awesome and so is all the coaching staff!" Caitlin exclaimed grabbing her bottle and practice jersey from her cubby across from Kate's.
"It's not that..." Kate mumbled quietly that Caitlin couldn't hear but she did hear Kate say something.
"What did you say?" Caitlin said before Kate's eyes widened.
"Nothing! Nothing!" Kate said as Caitlin shrugged her shoulders and walked out of the locker room and Nika walked inside. Kate just focused on fixing her shoes laces and tying them up.
Nika quietly walked to her own cubby and placed down her bag and pulled out her shoes throwing them down on the floor in front of her. Kate finally finished putting her shoes on and grabbed her new practice jersey that had her number 20 on the back of it, she smiled at the jersey before leaving the locker room and followed the sound of the dribbling basketballs.
Kate walked into the gym with all the girls shooting around and talking to each other before practice even started. Coach Bluder waved at her and Kate smiled and waved back at her before she made way over to Caitlin who was with Gabbie, Sydney, Molly and AJ.
"Hey rookie!" Sydney yelled joking around with Kate.
"Haha very funny." Kate said while smiling.
"How you feeling for your first day?" Molly asked, Kate shrugged her shoulders and threw a thumbs up.
