"Well, this is cheery." a clear voice cut through the room. 'Who died?"
Aster looked up, blinking away his tears and his dad letting him go from his embrace.
Just afew minutes Aster had gotten back from the duat and successfully saved Ra. But his sister Vesper... hadn't made it.
His dad seemed to be in a bigger mess than Mum was about it, and Aster was just blank. He didn't know how to feel about loosing his sister. He didn't know how to feel about anything right now.

Aster blinked away the tears and stared at the intruder who had just spoke.
She was a woman about mums age, but looked as though she belonged to a totally different time. Her dress was practically medieval – a dark green robe that flared out around her like a tree. Black curls cascaded down her pale face, green eyes piercing from its heart. Wait a minute... he'd seen those eyes before.

Oh. Wow.

"Morgan Le Fay," Zeus says grimly, "how did you get in here?"
"The fence..." Virgo says with a shaky sigh. "It only lets family in..."

Family? No way...
So it was true. Morgan Le Fay... she was...
She was Vesper's mum.
Oh shit.

Merlin scurries out from behind Morgan and onto the sofa arm next to Aster.
"Hey kid." He says.
"Hey Merlin." Aster says. "Why are you with-?"
"Why are you here?" Dad says darkly, standing at his full height, any trace of sadness gone. "I thought I made it clear I never wanted to see you again?"

Morgan smiles with a raised eyebrow.
"So you shouted at me twelve years ago." She says calmly. "But I thought, considering you let my our daughter-"
"How the FUCK is she your daughter!?" Mum yells at Morgan, her anger starting to rise again. "I've been more of a Mother than you'll ever be to her!"
Morgan turns to Mum will a glare, saying nothing before turning back to Dad.
"Considering you let our daughter drop dead, I thought I'd come visit." Morgan repeats.

"I didn't let her drop dead." Dad says through gritted teeth. "When did I have control over any of this?"
"You had control over her, didn't you?" Morgan says. "You're lucky I spared you to see her alive."
Dad's eyes narrow but he says nothing.

Aster had never seen his dad so... scary? Angry? He'd just never seen this before.

"Now I suggest you let me help you," Morgan begins, "Or it's not just your daughter you'll be loosing." Her eyes land on mum.
Dad's eyes widen.
"You wouldn't."
"Then let me see her?"

After turns away from the situation to look at Vesper.
Lying on the Sofa, her pace pale and her eyes closed. She looked horrible. Her hand was above her head, hanging open on the arm of the sofa. Aster puts his hand in hers.
Come on Ves. You can get out of there.

Morgan walked up next to Vesper with a vial full of something in her hand. She glanced at Aster before opening it and pouring it into Vesper mouth,
What was she doing?

It was like everyone had forgotten to breathe. Aster looked at his Mum and Dad. Mum was clinging to Dad, arms around his shoulders with a worried look, Dad holding her shoulder with the same face. Aster turned to the gods. Aphrodite had her arm around Athene's arm, Hermes was sitting on the table, Hephistus was watching Vesper and Zeus was staring at Morgan. No one knew what was going to happen.

Morgan stepped away from Vesper and put to top back on the vial.
Aster turned back to looked at his sister, lying pale on the sofa, unmoved.
They all waited.

Nothing.

Mum let out a small sob and Dad glared at Morgan before holding Mum closer.
Aster looked up and Morgan, and Morgan looked back at him. Aster turned back to Vesper and squeezed her hand.
His hands started to dissolve into stars and he let go of her hand as his eyes started to fill with tears again.
