Virgo Hooper had one thing certain, she was perfect. Complexion, hair, a family, a nice home, a voice to be heard. What more could she ask for? But as she stared out the car window, she was starting to second guess it.
The five hour long drive to Cornwall was giving her a lot of time to reflect on her feelings.
As she stared at Elliot's tired face, she wondered what he thought of himself. But yet again, that was his business, she didn't want to invade. But still, she couldn't help but wonder.
She'd heard what some of the girls at school had said about Elliot, maybe it was the fact he popular again, but there did seem to be a good number of girls that an eye on him.
She'd spoken to them a few times, Chloe, Amelia, Elle and Martina. The answer she'd gotten back from the majority : "He's fit, Virgo."
Virgo wasn't quick to judge but he wasn't exactly you'd crush on.
Virgo looked at Elliot in the window reflection, he was sat up, typing on his phone, with a smile on his face. She turned away from the window and leaned over to see what he was looking at.
"What are you doing?" She asks.
Elliot jumps and slams his phone face down on his lap as.
"Nothing!"
Ah yes, nothing. Now she knew something was up. 'Nothing' was actually code for 'it's something but I don't want you to know about it' and Elliot used it more than needed she thought.
"Why were you smiling at your phone?" Virgo presses.
"No I wasn't." Elliot snaps.
"Yes you were." Virgo says, raising an eyebrow.
"Guys, stop it come on." David says from the front.
"But-!" Virgo protests.
"Especially you."
Virgo rolls her eyes. If she had someone smart to say, she would've said it. Elliot pulls at face at the back of his dad's head before picking up his phone again and reading some texts.
Now, Virgo wasn't a nosey person, but it was a fatal flaw when she wanted to know what Elliot was doing.
About an hour into the journey, they stopped at a McDonald's for food. Elliot left his phone on the car seat after he got out. Virgo picked up his phone and noticed it was still open.
Again. Virgo wasn't nosey, but looking couldn't hurt?
Whattsapp was open on a series messages, "A dumbass" the contact said.
How incredibly inconvenient. The contact wasn't the actual name.
Reading through the messages they said :
If she's annoying you
just tell her to stop
Yeah but still I can't
just tell her to fuck
off we're gonna be
in here for four
hours
You're a pussy
HEY😭😭😭
Stating facts 😘 xx
Who on earth was this? By the way Elliot reacted it was probably a girl, unsurprising, he seemed like the type to have a girlfriend and not tell her at all. Typical.
"So who were you talking to in the car?" Virgo asks.
"My friend." Elliot says as he takes his phone back. "Shes the one in year ten."
"Kathy?" Virgo asks.
"Yeah, Kathy." Elliot confirms, not looking up from his phone.
"...right."
Virgo nods slowly.
Back in the car, Virgo was typing to Alisha Carr, one of her friends that was on the football team at the all girls school.
"I don't get it." Virgo started typing. "Why is he suddenly messaging this girl?"
"Maybe he thinks she's hot?" Alisha sends. "The guys one of the most popular guys at your school, he can pull who ever the fuck he wants let him have a girlfriend and loose his virginity in year eleven."
Virgo stops and stares at her phone.
"What?" Virgo sends.
"Whatever." Alisha texts. "Just let him do shit like that. He's a teenage 'mortal' boy, Virgo."
Virgo takes this in. Alisha could be right. Elliot was every stereotypical mortal boy from what she'd seen.
Loud, into sports, interruptive, annoying.
Perfect fit. But Elliot was still her brother, and fortunately for him, she wouldn't change him for the world. Which was irritating when he kept being a pain in the ass.
Virgo looks over to David, who seemed to not be as vocal as he normally was on car journeys. See And that sprung a thought, he'd been so busy with getting his Law degree that he'd started in prison, she'd barely spoken to him. That's odd. She brushed off the thought.
Virgo looks down at the flood of messages.
"VIRGO
VIRGO
VIRGO
VIRGO HOOPER" Alisha starts to spam.
"What?" Virgo sends back.
"KATHY HAS A BOYFRIEND!!"
"Okay and?"
"ELLIOTS TALKING TO KATHY??"
Virgo pauses.
What?
"She's not dating Elliot I would've known by now." Virgo sends back. "Plus i can tell."
"I'm not saying he's dating Kathy dumbass." She send back. "I'm saying, what if she's idk CHEATING ON HER BOYFRIEND??"
Oh shit.
Virgo looks at Elliot again.
Nope. Scrolling through twitter. Per usual.
Virgo rolls her eyes and looks back at her phone. Now this was an issue. If Kathy had a boyfriend, and Elliot's talking to Kathy and acting defensive, by connecting the dots you can only make the assumption that Alisha was right.
Oh my gods.
Virgo stares at her phone.
"Am I right or am I right?" Alisha sends.
"Oh fuck off there's no way." Virgo types back. "Personally I don't think he has the power to have a partner but....🤷♀️"
"That cold💀" Alisha sends. "But true ig. Just think about it, what if she is hitting on ur brother? What if you can't do anything about it?"
"Don't go Thanatos on me bitch" Virgo types. "Besides, I saw when he had a crush on Veronica. The guy couldn't walk in a straight line I doubt he likes Kathy."
"....Still." Alisha sends. "Just check on the guy. I'm sure hes losing his shit somewhere in his mind."
Virgo rolls her eyes and looks over to Elliot again.
Still on twitter.
She stares at him. Alisha had a point, she probably wouldn't know. But even if she did.
What would Elliot have to say about it?
(Author note : I'll probably write a pt.2 for this if you want more :))
It's really rushed because I have tests this week😔)
