I lick my lips, they suddenly feel dry and exposed. I narrow my eyes, trying to figure out what he means. I didn't go through all of that just for him to tell me love could've fixed it. No I refuse to believe it.

"You're lying." My voice shakes slightly as I say this. I inhale slowly, feeling the beat of my heart jumping ruthlessly against my ribcage.

Draco leans forward, a strand of his hair falling infront of his eyes but he doesn't stop, doesn't move the strand away, just smiles slowly. "No I'm not."

He's so close. I try to focus on his words but the closeness of his body makes mine go haywire. I can feel his body heat radiating off of him, sticking to my icy skin, the toes of his shoes touching mine. Every breath he takes, I can hear, I can feel.

"Fine. I'll do this job with you." I say without thinking it out thoroughly.

Draco seems surprised somehow but he masks it quickly by straightening his posture and nodding. Whatever was once between us years ago and moments ago disappeared within mere seconds. My heart sinks, it freezes over. Something inside of me had hoped that this would have been enough to send him over the edge like he had done to me but it didn't. Instead it yanked him back safely to shore.

"Good. You'll meet the rest of the team at dinner tonight."

I almost choak on my own spit. "Dinner? I never agreed to dinner." I completely derail.

"You agreed to the job, that does include business meetings," He says in a cut throat voice. I blink, dumbfounded then he turns around and grabs his coat. "We should be there in about an hour," he says as he shrugs his coat on. "Now?" I ask still dumbfounded.

His eyes cut towards mine, slicing through my nerves and settling warm in my stomach. " Yes now."

And I don't protest, I go on autopilot as I fallow him outside and into the car outside. It's only once were coated in the warmth of the restaurant that the layer of ice melts away and I'm yanked back into my own body. Where I have control over my own actions.

"This way," Draco mutters low and the words shoots like fireworks through my body and as they settle low in my soul, I feel his hand on my lower back leading me towards the table. My back goes rigid, warmth spreads through the cloth where his touch lingers and even when we've settled down and his hand disappeared I could still feel the trace of his pale hand clasping my body.

"This is y/n." Draco says and my gase snaps up inspecting the people surrounding us at the table. "You might remember Ruby, and that is Asher." For a moment I feel whiplash, his stark blue eyes barring down onto me, black hair standing out magnificently between the low burn of the lights. Tan skin and a pale scar runs along his sharp jaw. He smiles politely. I just stare, half in shock that a human like this is actually real.

Draco clears his throat and I'm snapped back to reality. " Cory and Gracey." He continues introducing me to the rest of the people.

During dinner, Asher and I get caught in each other's gase then a knife scratches against a plate or a fork gets dropped and I turn back to reality. It's strange, this stranger, being so captured by him.

"You can stay at my place tonight. Tomorrow we go out to our first mission." Draco announces quite loudly and I tear my gase from Asher and give Draco a strange look.

"I can go to a hotel."

"No," he says almost immediately, " You come home with me."

There was no arguing that. It was said and done and I left it at that.

"Y/n" I turn around and it's Asher. "Where did you come from?" He asks.

I chuckle and look side ways. " No where special."

"Let's go." Draco appears from behind and I wave him bye.

"What was that?" Draco asks, once were at his place, anger hinting at his voice. "You can't look me in the eyes but a stranger comes along and you stare at him all night long?"
