A leat slowly makes its way towards me, sliding down the air. It strikes me at how beautiful this little thing is. So precious, bursting with more life than I could ever muster. Before it hits the ground, essentially dying, I stop it.

"Leviosa." I whisper.

I hold out my hand towards the small thing and it starts lifting up again, struck with a new form of life. I let the leaf swirl around my outstretched hand. It dances wide between my wide spread fingers and slides past my palm and twirls around my wrist like a feather then it retreats back to my fingertips.

"I've never seen you smile like that", Draco says," Even when you were with that Ravenclaw guy."

I freeze, the leaf falls in my palm and I crush it between my fingers, opening my hand again to let the crush remains float away with the wind. My arm falls to my side just as my smile drops. I have to remember to put on a brave face before speaking.

"And I've never seen you smile like you do when Ruby's near." I bitterly say.

"What are you talking about?" Draco says, sounding dumbfounded.

I sigh, resting my head against the pillar again, practically biting on my tongue not to say it.

Despite myself, I say it," I say you at the dance together. Cute couple." I add the last bit on to hide the hurt, the jealousy bearing down on me.

Draco starts making his way towards me, his shoes ticking on the concrete as he walks, but I don't look at him. I keep my gaze onto the field. Seeing him from afar is one thing but seeing him up close, wrapped in the most beautiful suit, hair perfectly measured, glinting in the moonlight like the stars hanging above us. The most scariest of it all is that he got all dressed up for Ruby. Not me, a foolish girl I was.

Draco chuckles as he leans against the pillar, right beside me. He smells amazing, breathtaking. The tux he's wearing feels soft as it brushes my shoulder.

"She's not my date, you know." He says matter of factly.

"It sure seemed like it. I bet your real date is pissed at you when she saw you smiling like nothing else mattered at Ruby." I keep my voice steady, my posture unmoved.

Draco's eyes bear down on me. I can practically feel him analysing me.

"I don't have a date, y/n." Draco confesses.

Shock explodes like a firework inside my chest, lighting that spark of hope again by accident. The image of Draco smiling almost from ear to ear at the whispers they exchanged jumps in front of my eyes and that light of hope is torched.

I keep my face steady, letting the schock crinkle down my body until it disappears.

I clear my throat. "As I said, it sure didn't look that way."

Draco leans closer to my ear, his breath tickles down my neck and I clench on my jaw to keep my reaction stable. "Were you spying on me, l/n?" He whispers low into my ear.

"No", I say a little bit to quickly," I merely saw you two talking."

Draco straightens his posture beside me, " I told Ruby that I wanted to go to the dance with you, okay." He confesses in a harray of anger. I keep myself calm, reminding myself that he only wants me for power.Draco continues," Then I saw you with that Ravenclaw idiot and I was so angry that you had chosen to go with him, of all people, to go with."

"I didn't Draco." I cut in.

He sighs," It sure seemed like it "

"Well", I frustratingly say," I didn't go with him. That is all there is to it."

"When Ruby came up to me, she told me", Draco continues.

"Told you what?" I scrunch up my face in confusion.

"That you said no to the Ravenclaw boy."

I huff," That's what made you smile? That no one got to get to me first?"

He grunts. " Fuck no ,y/n. She told me that she convinced you to come to the dance and she alone. That no guy had anything to do with it and I came to find you. You were nowhere in the hall, so I knew you'd be here."

My heart can't handle him saying all these things, I have to make it stop, he has to stop. Draco needs to get away from me or he could be next on the list of victims I have.
