"Why did you run?", he asks. He doesn't ask it asif it's an accusation, asif its something that I should be ashamed of, but to me, to my brain, it sounds asif he's warning me to tread lightly on my next words. That whatever I say next will determine the rest of our relationship.

I inhale deeply, push my bangs away from my face as I level my gase with him. He changed in these years, grew handsome, grew muscles, strength. Power boils in his palms, between his lips, under his fingernails. It's practically radiating off of him, yet in the same moment in space, he keeps it tame. Like a lion resting in its den, preparing for the hunt that's mere hours away.

Narrowing my eyes as I study him further, I straighten my back. To seem taller, perhaps even braver, showing him I'm not that little girl anymore, afraid of her own shadow.

"I was never running.", I cut back.

Draco's face is neutral, unchanged, waiting for me to continue.

"We ran that night Draco.", I take a very small step towards him, staring up at him through my long thick lashes, breathing heavily, inhaling every piece of him. Of who he was and who is standing here before me today. He smells exactly like he did and completely different.

"We. Ran. ", I continue, " I wanted to run, I did." I take another step towards him. He still doesn't move, his eyes travel down my body each time it makes a movement yet it never betrays any sign of what he's thinking. He's like a wall.

I release a breath. "But you want to know what happened instead? After you," Rage singes at my words and I point my finger to his chest. As the tip of my fingertip touches the fabric of his shirt, all it feels is muscles and a surge of electricity jump starts my heart onto cloud nine." Ever so foolishly made me believe that we could control my magic."

I lean back on my heels and chuckle, yet there's ni humour behind it. It's raw, carved out of my vocal cords, that has been practicing for this moment for ages. "We we're teenagers. Kids, Draco! Love."

I inhale sharply, pain stabbing a hot blade right through my lungs and into my heart. I avoid his eyes looking at the ground, "Or whatever we had." I motion my hand between me and Draco. "Couldn't have fixed me. Not in our wildest dreams."

I step back completely from him, but his unfazed eyes doesn't leave my face. "So no, I didn't run. I was sent away Draco."

Heat rises inside of my body. I turn around completely and bang my fist against the table. A crack spreads like an outreaching hand through the polished oak. The sound echoing in the empty room.
"Fuck Draco.", I spin around to face him," Do you know how many times I rehearsed this in my head? And now all I can say is that what we were never in love." , I laugh pathetically.

"Y/n. You still act just like a Slytherin."

My head shots up and I stare him down with rage. A chuckle rumbles from his chest. That caught me by surprise. He's not the type to just kick around for a laugh. I quirk a brow at him.

"That's not why I'm here. I went into this specialty because of you-", I cut him off, "If you want me to be flattered, I'm not Malfoy."

"I'm not trying to impress you miss l/n. You are a very difficult person to track down y/n." He lifts his arm and drags his hand through his silver hair.

My eyes can't help but to wander up his arms as the muscles contract in the button up shirt, and how the veins in his hand web across almost perfectly along every long slender finger.

Focus!

I clench down on my jaw and refocus my eyes on his.

"I wanted to meet with you because I've found you a job. It's perfect for you. If I'm not mistaken you do know your way around weapons, correct?"

"Yes, how did you-", He cuts me off,
"Good. This job requires that and the use of your magic. Myself and others will be teamed up for missions all around the wizarding world to prevent wars like the one which happen with Potter."

"Who says I don't have a perfectly fit job right now?" I stubbornly say, crossing my arms over my chest. Although I must admit I would give anything to do this job, but I'm not going on my knees for Draco. No matter the circumstances.

"I do. You word at 3 diffrent jobs, one as a waiter, one as a assistant at the shop down on Main and one where people conduct studies on your special abilities." Draco has a well deserved cocky grin plastered on his face.

He takes a massive towards me, which causes the toes of our shoes to touch. Instinctively I straighten my back as I stare up at him through my lashes, holding my breath. If I take one breath now I will crumble.

"And miss l/n, I want you out of that situation. Now.", Draco demands. Almost asif it's his choice to make. His clear blue eyes darken as they bore down onto mine. I look away from him, my cheek brushes against the soft fabric of his shirt as I turn my face.

"Give me one good reason why I should accept this offer." I say in an attempt to scramble together what little sanity I have left.

Cold delicate fingers come in contact with my chin as it gets forced up to lock eyes with Draco again. He leans down and as he speaks, I can feel the warm air escaping from his lips brush past mine. "Love could've fixed you, y/n. You didn't have to go through rigorous training for that. Do this job with me and I'll teach you alot of things that they never could, love."
